These Mickey and Minnie Disney eye spy bags are so fun for your little Disney fans. They are great for road trips and waiting in those lines at the parks.
It’s no secret around here that we are huge Disney fans. Disneyland is one of my most favorite places ever! And although I love all things Disney, I’m a classic Disney girl at heart. Mickey and Minnie are true originals and I love making fun things for my kids inspired by Disney.
My kids are big fans of I spy bags. (Or eye spy bags.) So I thought it’d be super fun to make some to show our love of Disney. I think these Disney eye spy bags would be fun to actually take to the parks to keep the kids entertained while waiting in lines for rides or waiting for the parade to start. Or great for the car or plane ride to Disney. Now I am not the best sewer, especially when it comes to having to sew in a circle. So I enlisted the help of my mother in law on this project. I did the cutting, she did the sewing.
The first thing I did was create a template for my eye spy bag. You can use the same template by clicking the link below to get the download.
For these Disney eye spy bags I used some black flannel that you can pick up for under a dollar per sheet at any craft store. I cut out 2 Mickey heads using the template. Then I reused the template and cut the center out of one of the Mickey heads.
My mother in law sewed the plastic onto the Mickey head with the center cut out. Then we sewed the two Mickey heads together right sides together, leaving about a 2 inch gap on the bottom, so we could turn it inside out to hide all the plastic edges and seams. You can see more detailed instructions on this in my other eye spy bag tutorials.
Once it was turned right side out, I filled the bag with these cute Disney buttons I found at a Scrapbook convention. Then filled it about half way up with these poly pellet beads they use in dolls.
Then we stitched up our 2 inch opening. I added a red and white polka dot bow to one so we’d have Minnie.
My daughters loved their new Disney eye spy bags. My little one carries hers around all the time and keeps it in her traveling backpack. They turned out so fun and I can’t wait to take them on our next Disney adventure.
