We have years when we do big birthday parties for the kids. And then years we do something small. But we do make sure to do something special for the birthday boy or girl on their big day.
If we do have a party, we like to do some sort of fun party favor. I like to incorporate a party favor that can also be an activity during the party. You know how hard it is to keep little kids entertained for hours at a time.
That is why these candy filled cupcake party favors are perfect! Not only do they act as the party favor, but they can also be used as part of the time during the party to make. They are super simple, if you had the majority of the supplies ready to go, the only part they would need help with is the hot glue.
To make these candy filled cupcake party favors you will need:
This may look like a lot of steps, but these are so easy to make. Cut your tissue paper down to rectangles about 7 inches by 10 inches. If they are not exact, it won’t matter. Lay 3-4 cut pieces of your tissue paper down in a stack.
Place a handful of candy in the middle of your tissue paper. I bought my candy from the dollar store and made sure to grab things that were small and individually wrapped. Place the tissue paper and candy in the palm of your hand and start forming a circular form.
Bring the sides of the tissue paper up to the middle and create the top of your cupcake. Twist the extra tissue paper at the ends, so all the candy will remain inside.
Place a good amount of hot glue in the bottom of the cupcake liner, and along the sides. Press your candy filled tissue paper down into the cupcake line and secure it with the hot glue.
You can either leave the gumball in the wrapper so it can be eaten later, or unwrap it before hot gluing it to the top of your cupcake. I thought it’d be cuter for the pictures to have them unwrapped.
Either way, these cupcake party favors turned out super cute. Your little party guests will be able to make these pretty easily with a little supervision when it comes to the hot gluing part.
