Disneyland Time Saving Tips – Download the Disneyland App
Before you even set off on your Disneyland adventure, download the free, official Disneyland app. This interactive map is your guide to all things Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Before your vacation, you can refer to the app’s map and familiarize yourself with the Parks so you’re not completely lost when you arrive. See where everything is located, including rides, theaters and restaurants. Toggle through all the menu options to find quick-service dining, churro carts, Disney Character meeting spots and more.
The Disneyland app is also the tool through which you can make reservations for Character Dining, see event showtimes and mobile order from many of your favorite restaurants (more on that below!). The Disneyland App is a must for any trip to the parks.
Disneyland Time Saving Tips – Mobile Order
Have you heard of mobile ordering at Disneyland? It can be a huge time saver while you’re in the Parks. Mobile ordering allows you to use the Disneyland app to make and pay for menu selections at a number of restaurants and quick-service vendors in the Resort.
You can choose a window of time during which you will pick up your food, so you can enjoy rides and attractions in the meantime. Never waste time standing in line for food again!

When your pick up time approaches, you head to the restaurant and show your mobile order confirmation to the Cast Member at the designated mobile order pickup spot. This is often located near the regular registers, but off to one side.
Mobile order pickup spots are labeled, so just keep your eyes peeled. Mobile order lines are typically much shorter than traditional food lines, especially if you time your food pickup for off-peak dining times. For example, instead of trying to get lunch between 12 and 2, place your mobile order for a little earlier and beat the rush.
Disneyland Time Saving Tips – Disney Genie +
I know I mentioned using Disney Genie + in my article about enjoying Disneyland when it’s crowded, but this deserves another mention! Genie + allows you to save time at Disneyland by giving electronic access to making Lightning Lane requests.
Yes, Genie + is an additional $20 per ticket charge each day you use it, but it’s more than worth the cost. Instead of literally running around Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to request FastPass ride times in person, like you had to do in the past, you simply log into the Disneyland app and make those requests on your mobile device. I don’t know about you, but getting on more rides in a day is worth $20 to me!

Pull up the app and get the Lightning Lane pass on your phone and scan to enter the ride using your Genie Plus passes.
In addition to being a time saving Disneyland tip, Genie Plus is also a great way to help you preserve your Disneyland memories. With the purchase of one Disney Genie +, you can download PhotoPass pictures for the day.
Your whole travel party can then have access to PhotoPass pictures taken by professional Disneyland photographers. If you think about it, this can also save you time since mom and dad won’t have to constantly stop the group and get someone to take photos of the family as they enjoy Disneyland. Let someone else do the work for you!
Disneyland Time Saving Tips – Bring Your Own Food
Having your favorite snacks handy is another helpful time saving Disneyland tip! Did you know you can bring your own food into Disneyland and Disney California Adventure? Whether you tote it around in your bag or rent a locker for the day, you can save time by eating your own food and drink in the Resort.
If you bring a cooler into Disneyland, just make sure it’s no bigger than a six pack of soda, and that it’s soft-sided. You can bring ice as long as it’s contained, keeping snacks such as string cheese, yogurt and the like nice and cool.
Feel free to bring in sandwiches, such as frozen Uncrustables that can thaw throughout the day. Not having to stand in line for food when someone gets hungry can save a lot of time in Disneyland!
