Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort

Have you ever been to Disneyland to celebrate a holiday? With Halloween Time at the Resort fast-approaching, I thought I would share the details of this festive time at Disneyland.

Halloween Time at Disneyland is such a magical time! Of course, it should go without saying that any time at Disney is full of wonder but there’s just something special about the entire Resort getting dressed up to celebrate holidays.

Halloween Time vs Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party

Halloween Time is celebrated at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. For 2019, Halloween Time kicks off September 6, which is the earliest the Resort has ever started this celebration. Halloween Time decor, treats and ride overlays will be up at the Resort through October 31, 2019. You can purchase discount Disneyland tickets now from Get Away Today, and use their flexible, interest-free Layaway Plan to pay off the vacation up until five days before you travel.

During Halloween Time, Disney California Adventure Park will host a separately-ticketed event called Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party. Guests with Bash tickets can get into Disney California Adventure up to four hours before the party starts at 6pm on select nights, giving plenty of time to experience all the Park has to offer. Oogie Boogie Bash is hosted on select nights during Halloween Time, beginning September 17 and runs through October 31, 2019. Tickets for the Bash need to be purchased directly via Disney.

Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort

Halloween Time festivities include a number of temporary overlays to existing rides, as well as spooktacular decor. Here’s what you can expect to find in either Park during Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort:

• Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour takes guests on a walking tour of Disneyland Resort, highlighting spooky, historical spots. This additional-cost tour is 2.5 hours and you can learn about the legends of various film and park poltergeists and other creepy characters.

Disneyland Park

• Main Street, U.S.A. displays the Pumpkin Festival: Main Street will be lined with carved pumpkins, and the iconic, giant Mickey pumpkin will be on prominent display.
• Haunted Mansion becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday: The Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas Makeover to celebrate Halloween Time
• Halloween Screams: This projection show in front of Sleepy Beauty Castle is hosted by Jack the Pumpkin King and his trusty pet, Zero. Lights, sounds, pyrotechnics and more are wickedly wonderful and the show will feature villains such as Ursula and Maleficent.
• Costumed Characters: Many of your favorites can be found throughout Disneyland in their Halloween costumes. Villains are also known to be more readily available during Halloween Time, so keep your eyes peeled!

Disney California Adventure Park

• Radiator Springs in Cars Land becomes Radiator Screams: The whole town gets a makeover for Halloween Time. See your favorite spots along Route 66 transformed into family-friendly frightful delights!
• Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin Haul-O-Ween: Enjoy themed music and decor at Luigi’s ride during Halloween Time.
• Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree: Mater’s tractors and junkyard get a new look for the festivities.
• Cars Characters will show off Halloween costumes
• Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! becomes Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark: The crew left Groot behind and their mission each evening during Halloween Time is to avoid the monsters and retrieve Groot. 

Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland Resort

During Halloween Time, you can enjoy themed attractions, treats and decor during the day at both Parks. But on select nights beginning September 17, Disney California Adventure Park will host Oogie Boogie Bash from 6 – 11pm. If you have Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, here are a few of the attractions you’ll find at the party:

• Carthay Circle: Bats and special effects will change the appearance of the Bell Tower.
• Character Encounters: Costumed Characters and special appearances from Oogie Boogie, Mad Hatter and more will delight Bash guests.
• DescenDance: Get in the groove during this all-ages dance party and performance, based on Descendants, in the Backlot of Hollywood Land
• Frightfully Fun Parade: Led by the Headless Horseman, Disney Characters in masquerade will be on parade.
• Immersive Treats Trail: Get some tricks or treats on the trail, but keep an eye out for villains on their thrones!
• Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show: Catch a showing of this new show in Disney Theater during the Bash. Mickey and friends will tell family-friendly Halloween tales while in costume.
• Redwood Creek Challenge Trail: The Trail is transformed into a spooky dreamscape with smoke, lighting and eerie sounds to create an enchanted forest experience.
• Trick-or-Treating: Visit cauldrons throughout the Park to pick up a few treats, and maybe some tricks!
• Villainous!: Watch an all-new version of World of Color during Oogie Boogie Bash. New character Shelley Marie can’t decide what to be for Halloween, and the Villainous! overlay on World of Color tells her story. Follow along as she sees what it takes to be one of Disney’s famous Villains.

My kids and I had so much fun at the Halloween Party!  It has been one of my son’s favorite times visiting the parks.  Of course I had to create some matching/coordination t-shirts for us to wear during our visit.  Not only did I make these DIY Nightmare Before Christmas Shirts but I also made these no sew Minnie ears for the girls to wear.
