We are all crazy about the new Minions movie coming out this weekend!  My kids love the movies and have already planned for their dad and I to take them to see the new one.  This weekend we celebrated my nephew’s 4th birthday.  For his birthday party I thought it would be fun to get the kids even more excited about the new movie and made these Minion party poppers for all the kids.

These party poppers are super easy.  All it takes is yellow and blue tissue paper, a toilet paper roll, glue stick and some bakers twine.  You will also need stuff to fill your party poppers too.

You start off will a 4 to 5 inch strip of yellow tissue paper.  Using your glue stick, glue the tissue paper onto one half of the toilet paper roll.  Just start at one end of the paper and start rolling, gluing as you go.  When you get to the end, use some bakers twine, string or ribbon and tie off the end.

Once you have one side tied up, fill the Minion party popper with all kinds of fun surprises.  I used bubbles, bracelets, candy, gum and parachute guys to fill my party poppers.

Then take 4 to 5 inch strip of blue tissue paper and cover the other half of your toilet paper roll and tie it off, like you did for the first side.  Some of your goodies might try to escape as you roll, just shove them back in when you’re ready to tie off the end.

Once the party poppers were covered and tied off, I used a black sharpie to make the minion faces on the yellow half of the popper.

I made a different face for each of the Minions so I knew which popper was for which kid.

The Minion party poppers were a hit with the kids.  They all watched each other as they opened their poppers.  It was fun to watch their cute faces as they tried to open them.  Some of the little ones needed their daddy’s help.  Who knew tissue paper was so hard to open! 🙂

Is your family excited about the new movie?  Or are you planning a minion party?

Then these poppers are a project to put on your to do list.  You can even get the kids involved in the making of these Minion party poppers.

Happy Crafting!
