Today’s post has been a long time coming. We’ve been living in our new house for just over a year now and I finally put together my gallery wall. I slowly gathered items that I wanted to include on my wall in my living room. The one rule I follow when it comes to decorating my home is, if I like it, I will find a place for it. Even if that means it’s not quite “on trend”.
In our house both our living room and family room are pretty big rooms. We have high ceilings and long walls. So I had a big blank area to decorate. I started with this blank canvas. My parents gave us their old leather couch when they got a new one. I love it in the space.
The colors I wanted to use in my gallery wall were red, aqua, white with some silver and wood accents. I LOVE the color red and use it in every room in my house. I had a red wall in my last house, but I was ready to lighten things up when we moved, but I still gotta have the red. I found the oval frame from Ikea and knew I wanted that to be the center of my gallery wall. I bought the metal C from pick your plum a long time ago knowing I wanted to use it in a gallery wall. I love clocks and watches so I couldn’t pass up this aqua clock I found on clearance at Michael’s. The ampersand sign was also on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The be happy sign I made and hung on the wall with command strips. My husband made my arrows for me from some wood from our gate.
Of course I needed to include a picture of my cute family! And this red frame, I bought at Michael’s years ago. It was a perfect addition to the gallery wall. I love the signs Barn Owl Primitives creates and had to include this domino sign.
I went with a more long and lean look for my gallery wall instead of taking it higher up the wall. When we first moved in I had put the canvas picture of the 3 kids on the back of the couch and left it there until I started doing the gallery wall. I went to take the picture down, not sure I wanted to use it, and my son got really upset. He said he loved that picture and he wanted it on the wall. I knew I had to keep it then! 🙂 I added the aqua number 5 I made at a local craft night, another arrow, another clock and a water color picture of the temple we were married in painted by Taylor Town Shop.
I love how it turned out! I need to add a tree to the corner and maybe a bigger chair, but for now, our living room is looking good. I started collecting things for this gallery wall even before we moved into this house. Like I said before, I buy things that I like when I see them, and eventually they will find their way into my decor.
Do you have a gallery wall in your house? Are you planning one? I’d love to know what you are going to include!
Happy Decorating!

I love the be happy sign!!
Thanks Carrie! I made it. And I love it too!
I’m glad I ran across your post! Just last week, my husband and I took EVERYTHING off the entry way hallway. We painted it white, and now we are trying to decide what we want for a new gallery wall. Our biggest debate is how to make it so we can change it up easily…without putting new nails in the wall every month. Do you know what I mean? Our kids are changing every month. I want to be able to change out their pictures easily. And, I want the flexibility to change up other printables and such as seasons change. We are still brainstorming!
Let me know if you have any suggestions. You did a great job with your wall. Nice work!
Thank you Kelli! I’m excited for your gallery wall. They are a labor of love for sure. I recommend command strips. They hold really well and you can get different sizes depending on how much weight you will have on the wall. Another idea would be to maybe put up clipboards on your wall and you can easily change out the kids pictures as they get older. Hopefully those ideas are helpful!
I love how this turned out! I am hoping start on a gallery wall in our stairway soon.
Thanks Heidi! I’m really happy with it. Good luck to you on your gallery wall. There are just so many fun things to put into a gallery wall!
It’s so cute! Love the colors and whole vibe. It’s totally something I would choose for my house!
Wow! Thank you Jennifer!
Totally love how it turned out! I’m in the process of finishing a gallery wall in our family room. It always takes me forever. I may have to make a rustic arrow, I love yours!
Thanks Kara! I really love it too. I don’t know why gallery walls take so long to put together! 🙂
