Simple birthday gifts is what I’m all about. I know that I appreciate the thought put into a gift, rather than how much it costs. Even if a gift is inexpensive, a little fun packaging and it’s ready for gifting.
One of the reasons I’m loving the Cricut Joy is because of how compact and easy it is to use. It can be kept on any counter or shelf and is ready to pull out to make a quick birthday gift extra special.
What is the Cricut Joy
Have you seen the new Cricut Joy? It is such a cute little machine. But there are so many possibilities. Look at some of the material made especially for the Cricut Joy. There is vinyl, specialty papers, cards, pens and more.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the fun materials made just for the Cricut Joy.
What would a Cricut be with out vinyl? The new Cricut Joy has something other Cricut machines don’t have, smart vinyl. Smart Vinyl means you can cut these vinyls with NO MAT!! How amazing is that? There are so many options of Smart Vinyl available: Permanent, removable and even iron on. And these new smart labels can be used without a mat as well.
Something that is unique to the Cricut Joy is the Card mat. This cutting mat is designed specifically to work with the Cricut Insert cards and the many cut files in Design Space for card making. With these tools you will have fancy greeting cards made to order in minutes.
Birthday Gifts with the Cricut Joy
Let’s start our list of Birthday Gift ideas with the card mat and insert cards. I selected the birthday card design I liked in Cricut Design Space and clicked make it. Making sure to have Cricut Joy selected as my machine.
It will then ask what type of mat you’ll be using. Select the card mat and then select cardstock as your material. Place the cardstock prefolded card into the card mat, by sliding it in and securing the top on the sticky surface.
Load the card mat into the machine and press go on the computer. Once the card is cut, select unload and remove the card from the mat. Then place one of the inserts into the back of the card as shown and you have yourself one beautiful birthday car.
Another fun idea for a birhtday gift for a friend would be these cozy socks. Sure you could stick them in a bag and call it good, but these adhesive backed deluxe papers from my friend Jenn Goode just happen to match these socks perfectly!
You will need to use one of those cutting mats for this product. But open up the Happy Birthday design in Cricut Design Space and press make it. Place your adhesive backed paper onto the cutting mat.
Select Cricut Joy as your cutting machine. The project should be sized and ready to go. Make sure to select cutting mat to show it will be using a mat and then you’ll be able to select the adhesive back deluxe paper as your material.
Load the mat into the machine and select go. It will tell you to install the pen. Follow the directions as they pop up on the screen. It will write with the pen first and then stop so you can switch out the pen for the blade. Then it will cut the design.
Once removed from the machine, pull up the wrapper from the mat and wrap around the socks. Securing it together in the back. Super simple and makes a big statement.
One of my favorite ways to relax is to unwind in a warm bath at the end of the day. Bath bombs are such a fun gift to give and receive. But they are kind of boring to look at. Even with all that cute colored paper.
The Cricut Joy came in super handy to dress up these little guys. I decided the smart labels would be put to good use here. Grab the files for these Bath Bomb wrappers in Cricut Design Space.
They are designed to fit a about a 4 oz sized bath bomb. You’ll need your pen for this one as well. You won’t need a mat for these, but you will want to make sure you select the smart label as your material.
Load the smart label and the pen into the Cricut Joy and hit go. Once the machine is done drawing the designs, it will stop and ask you to replace the pen with the blade. Click continue and it will finish cutting the designs.
Unload the mat and then peel up the labels and attach them to the bath bombs. These labels would also be cute on a jar of homemade jam, a box of candy, a loaf of bread or really any treat you think your friend might love.
They will be so nice to have on hand and pull out when you are wanting to add a little fun touch to a simple gift.
This gift idea might just be my favorite. I love me a good drink. And I’m sure you have a friend you loves a good drink too. Go grab them their favorite drink and add this fun Drink topper. It’s such a fun way to add a birthday surprise to this easy gift idea.
Grab the file for this drink topper and open it up in Cricut Design Space. Once open, make sure you have Cricut Joy selected as your machine and click make it.
You will need to use a cutting mat for this project. Cut down your cardstock to fit onto the mat and then load the mat into the machine. Start out using the pen first and then switch it out to the blade when the machine prompts you to.
Remove it from the mat once it’s done cutting and has been unloaded, then place it right on the top of the drink. It fits just perfect!
