My family had the opportunity to go and see an early showing of the Lego Batman Movie and I have to say, it was great!  My kids both loved the movie.   Not only was it entertaining for the kids, I really enjoyed it too.  The humor, the music and the references to every single Batman movie or TV show ever made, was what made it enjoyable for my husband and I.  Like most recent animated films, there are some jokes that only adults will get.  My husband was worried it would be too much adult humor, but I didn’t feel that was the case.  And my kids (8 and 6) didn’t understand them anyway.  If your kids (and family) loved the first lego movie, they will love this one.

To get the kids excited to see the movie, I created these fun Lego Batman Movie t-shirts.  We only planned on taking the older 2 kids so I first made my son a Batman t-shirt and my daughter a Robin t-shirt.  Well baby sister insisted that I make her a Robin t-shirt too. 🙂

When I was designing these t-shirts, I knew I wanted to put a word underneath the image.  I went back and forth between using the word hero under Batman or just having it say Batman.  I decided to go with hero since my son is the oldest brother to 2 sisters and they both want to be doing whatever he is doing.  He is their example, their protector and ultimately, he is their hero.

Once I decided on hero for Batman, sidekick for my daughter was the best choice.  Since they were little, everyone always asks if they are twins.  They look out for each other, fight with each other, love each other and more often than not, my daughter is always there as his sidekick.  And once baby sister insisted she needed a Robin shirt, she got to be sidekick too.  It really does work with my kids and how they are when they are together.

They wore these shirts to the movie and all the Lego Batman enthusiasts loved them and wondered where we got them.  I just made them at home using my new Cricut Explore Air 2 and some black iron-on or heat transfer vinyl.

In order to create your own t-shirts you will need to download the design file by clicking the link below.  Once it opens, right click to save the image and then open it in your cutting machine software.  You will see that I’ve included everything onto one page.  You can erase/delete the images or words you don’t want before you cut your iron on vinyl.

If you need a tutorial on how to use iron on vinyl to create a t-shirt, check out this Storm Trooper T-shirt I created for my son.

My kids were so excited to wear their new shirts and they were even more excited to be a hero or a sidekick. 🙂  They can’t wait to go see Lego Batman movie again.

Happy Crafting!

Liz
