I absolutely love reading. I read for fun and enjoyment. I can’t say that I love to read self help books or historical books, but historical fiction with a great story, I can read a book like that in a day or 2. I wish all my kids had the same love of reading as I do, but only my daughter so far loves books.
We went to the bookstore the other day and picked up a couple new books for the kids and I loved the fun magnetic bookmarks I saw at the store. I thought it’d be super fun to create some of our own using some of my hand drawn doodles. Plus I wanted to get the kids excited about reading and thought a fun bookmark would help in that endeavor.
How to Make Print and Cut Bookmarks
These DIY magnetic bookmarks were really easy to make using the print and cut feature on my Cricut Maker. Once uploaded the file into my Cricut Design Space I saved it as a print and cut image. I inserted the design onto my canvas and resized it to fit the print and cut size. (6.75 x 9.25) Click make it once you have the project sized correctly and because it’s saved as a print and cut file, it should send straight to your printer.
I printed these out onto cardstock and then added my printed page, with it’s registration marker, onto my cutting mat. I selected my material as cardstock, loaded the mat into the machine and hit the go button on my machine. The Cricut will read the registration marks and then cut the bookmarks.
I used a scoring tool to score along the dotted lines in the middle of the bookmarks so that they would be easier to fold. Peel off the sticky backing of your magnets and attach them to the inside flaps of the bookmarks. Make sure they line up perfectly before adhering them. Clip it onto the page of your book and they are ready to start keeping your place.

Once downloaded, open the file in design space to size the image to fit within the print and cut parameters, 6.75 inches wide by 9.25 inches long. You may need to rotate these 90 degrees so that you get a portrait layout to print and cut these a good size.
If you don’t have a Cricut cutting machine, you could easily cut these out by hand too. You can size these to whatever size you prefer and just use scissors or a paper cutter to cut these.
My kids absolutely loved these. And my first grader, who is a super reader, has one in every book she can find.
Happy Crafting!
