Surprise your favorite little reader with one of these super cute Floral Bookmarks using Cricut Print and Cut.
Do you have a super reader in your house? My daughter loves reading. Which I love! She usually has 2 or 3 books she is trying to read at the same time. I usually find little torn pieces of paper stuffed into various books around the house. I thought it’d be fun to make some new bookmarks for all the books she plans to read this year.
To make these tassel bookmarks you will need:
Colored card stock (for the tassels)
Glue (I like this Tombow brand one)
To get started, click and download the floral bookmark file link above. Open up Cricut Design Space and upload the bookmark file. Save the file as a print and cut file. Open the file onto the canvas and resize the image to fit with in the Print and Cut parameters. Resize the width to be 6.2 inches wide.
Click make it and it will go directly to the cutting mat screen. Click continue and load your printer with white card stock. Print the design on the cardstock first. Place the printed bookmarks on the cutting mat, load into your Cricut.
Print and Cut Floral Bookmarks
Select the cutting material in Design Space as heavy carstock. Push the blinking GO button on the machine to start cutting. The Cricut will check the registration box around the design and begin cutting out the bookmarks. Unload the mat once it is done cutting, and use the spatula tool to remove the bookmarks from the mat.
Once the bookmarks are cut, it’s time to make the tassels. Click on the tassel cut file and it will open in Design Space. Click customize so you can resize and adjust tassel cut file as needed. I made these about 1.5 inches wide by 7 inches tall. Here is a trick I use when I need to make several of the same thing, but I want different colors.
Once I have the design exactly as I want, I click make it and it takes me to the cutting mat screen. In the upper left corner you can add more project copies. Change the number in the box and click apply. More of the design will appear on your cutting mat. I decided to add 3 inch strips of colored cardstock to one cutting mat so I didn’t have to load and unload a bunch of cutting mats to cut different colored tassels. While on the cutting mat screen in Design Space, I moved my tassel designs to cut on the mat where I had placed the colored card stock.
Load the mat into the machine, select cardstock as the cutting material and press go. When it’s done cutting, unload the mat from the machine and use the spatula tool again to help remove the tassels from the mat.
Glue a doubled piece of bakers twine to the end of the tassel and begin to tightly roll up the tassel. (I realize my photos are out of order, but you can see the process). Add a thin line of glue along the entire tassel as you roll it.
Feed the bakers twine end through the top hole of the bookmark and loop it around the tassel end to attach the tassels to the bookmarks.
These bookmarks turned out just so cute! My daughter grabbed them and placed them in all the books she is in the process of reading. She loved them so much, she asked if we could make some for her friends too.
I’m thinking I need to make some for myself!
