If you know an avid reader that also loves cats, this felt Cat Bookmark will be the perfect project or gift for them.
My daughter is obsessed with cats. We have cat squishmallows all over our house. I think she collects them because she knows that we will never get a real cat due to my allergies.
Recently she started reading more and asking to look for books to buy. I am all about encouraging her to read more. And I thought she would love a cute and furry kitty bookmark.
I pulled out all my felt and decide to make a white and brown cat bookmark for her. I decided it would be easier to use iron on vinyl to do the face and ears to keep it a low profile for when it is inside the book. Too much layered felt would make it too thick.
Felt Cat Bookmark
To make the felt cat bookmark, download the free cut file, which you will find the download for, further down in the post. Upload the design to your cutting machine. I used Cricut Design Space. How to upload an SVG to Cricut Design Space.
Cut the pieces from the desired material. Make sure you choose the correct material for each mat that you are going to cut. As you can see, I used both felt and iron on vinyl. I cut all my pieces and weeded my vinyl.
I placed all my pieces together to build my cat. Before attaching the brown felt to the white background piece, I added the heat transfer vinyl. Then I used fabric glue to attach the brown felt.
I folded the felt bookmark in half and then it was ready for use. The project came together really quickly. Which is the best kind of project if you ask me.
Now I think I need a whole collection of felt animal bookmarks. Which animal should I make next? You’re right. A dog would be perfect.
The cut file for the cat bookmark will be downloaded in a zip file. Once you unzip the file, you can upload it to your cutting software.

This month Team Creative Crafts is tackling felt! I actually really like working with felt. Especially if it also involves my Cricut machine. I think the Cricut Maker cuts felt so well. It is a joy to craft with.
