I absolutely love Tombow Dual Brush pens. Not only do I use them for hand lettering, in fact, I have some free brush lettering practice sheets you can use with them, but they are great for art too.
Because they are water based, they blend so well together. Not just he markers themselves blend, but they blend beautifully with water. I made this cute Twinkle Twinkle Little Star card blending the Tombow Dual Brush Pens to create a fun galaxy look.
I have been thinking of easy gift ideas to give teachers or for the kids to make for their friends for the holidays. And these easy watercolor bookmarks are so perfect for them.
Any reason I can include hand lettering and my favorite lettering products, is a winner of a project in my book. And when they turn out as cute as these, that’s just a bonus.

DIY Watercolor Bookmarks
To get started, take a piece of mixed media or water color paper and add different colored circles to the paper with your choice of dual brush pen color. I wanted to go with traditional Christmas colors for these bookmarks.
Use the waterbrush to blend the colors and create a cool watercolor look to your paper. Then use a paper cutter to cut the paper into 2 inch strips.
Once they are cut into 2 inch strips, you can either add some fun hand lettered sayings or phrases using a Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen. Or just leave them blank with no words. They are still cute.
The water will cause the paper to curl and not lay flat. I decided to laminate my bookmarks so they would be flat and not curl. Plus laminating them protects them in case they get water on them in the future. I punched a hole in the top middle area of the bookmarks.
How to make a tassle for a bookmark
To make the bookmarks even more fun, I added a fun tassle out of yarn. To make the tassle, wrap yarn around your hand several times. Slip the yarn off your hand, and carefull add a piece of yarn through the center and tie in a knot.
Add the loose tied ends to attach the tassle to the bookmark. Then add another piece of yarn around the top 1/4 part of the yarn loops and tie to create the round top part. Use scissors to cut the bottom loops and trip so all the ends are even.
If you want to keep it a bit more simple, just add some yarn to the bookmark for an easy look.
Or add no tassle at all. Anyway you finish these will be perfect!
Not only will these make a great little gift for Christmas, these would be a fun activity at a birthday party or classroom party. So quick and easy to do.
Happy Crafting!
