Gift giving, as you may know, is one of my favorite things. Creating something simple and handmade is one of my favorite kind of gifts to give. And if I can include another one of my favorite things, handlettering, I get really excited about gifting. This watercolor resist galaxy card is hand lettered using some of my favorite Tombow products and I don’t actually use any watercolors at all!
To make this card you will need:
Smooth Mixed Media Paper
Tombow Dual Brush Pens – Galaxy Set
Tombow Glue Pen
Tombow Fudenosuke Soft Nib
Tombow Mono Drawing Pen
Watercolor Brush Pen
To create this watercolor resist galaxy card I started with my focus word, and wrote Star in the light blue. Then I used the glue pen to add stars to the word. Once the glue is dry, I added small amounts of the remaining galaxy colors (pink, blue, purple, black) on top of the light blue. I used the wet tip of the watercolor brush pen to blend the colors together, creating the galaxy effect. It’s fun to watch the stars appear as you add the color and blend them all together. Once the watercolor dried, I outlined the word using the mono drawing pen. I then used the fudenosuke pen to add twinkle twinkle little to finish off the card.
You can download these free printable handlettering practice sheets I created with the fudenosuke to practice your hand lettering if you like, before adding it to your card.
You can see the watercolor resist with the glue pen shows the blue stars. If you wanted, you could use a light grey pen as your base instead of a light blue, and then the stars in your galaxy lettering will be grey. Practice with the different colors to find a look you like best.

Happy Lettering!
