When it comes to birthdays or special occasions, I love to create handmade gifts. But sometimes a handmade gift isn’t always easy to put together in time. In those times I tend to go with my last minute go to gift, a gift card. I decided to bring the two together and I combined the handmade gift with the gift card gift and created a confetti shaker card gift card holder.
I was super excited to receive this package from We R Memory Keepers with all their new Fuse products. It was just what I needed to combine a homemade gift with a gift card. Everything I needed to make a gift card holder card was included in the Fuse bundle.
The bundle includes the Fuse tool, with ruler, the stand and two Fuse tips, 12×12 photo sleeves, 4×6 photo sleeves, 4×4 photo sleeves, 2×2 photo sleeves, 1.8×2.4 photo sleeves, heat resistant mat, fusible paper cards, fusible shaker cards, embellishments, envelopes and sequins. Everything in the kit works with the photo Fuse, including the cards and papers. My favorite part of the bundle was all the beautiful and fun embellishments that came in the kit. They are perfect for any occasion.
I decided I wanted to make a shaker card. I’ve never made one before and I don’t think it could’ve been any easier. I chose one of the fusible paper cards that already had the circles cut out to make the shaker card. I decided to create the front of the card first.
I picked out the elements that I wanted to use for my card and created a layout.
Then I used the Fuse tool to attach all the embellishments to the shaker card. The is a heat tool that creates bonds and welds to allow you to create pockets or sleeves in crafting. I placed the ruler over the embellishments that I wanted to bond to the card, and with slow and steady pressure I rolled the fusing tip across my embellishments.
And just like that they were attached to the card. No need for glue or tape. Using the same method, I fused the other embellishments to the front of the card.
I used one of the shaker card plastic pockets and added some sequins for my confetti shaker card. I used the Fuse to create a weld at the top of the pocket to seal the plastic closed.
I then fused the sequin confetti pocket to the inside of the card. I placed the ruler along the 4 edges of the plastic sleeve and using the fuse tip, bonded the plastic to the inside of the card.
Then I folded the outside flap over and fused it to the front of the card. I then added some embellishments to the inside of the card to make it festive for the recipient.
I wanted to be able to add a gift card to the card. I used one of the 1.8×2.4 plastic sleeves, that are the perfect size for instax pictures, and turned it on it’s side. I used the ruler to help guide my fuse welds, and fused the sides and bottom of the plastic to make the gift card holder.
Then I just slipped a gift card in to the plastic pocket I made. If you don’t have the exact size plastic pocket that I used, you could always cut down a 12×12 plastic sleeve to create your gift card holder sleeve. The fuse welding tip creates a strong, clean, weld that will not tear or separate. My only tip is to make sure you go slowly, and give it some pressure as you roll it over the area you are trying to bond.
The Fuse is available in a bundle set and usually is priced over $100. But on July 1, 2015, for one day only, it will be available for a fraction of that price on HSN.
I haven’t gotten out my scrapbook paper and made a handmade card in a long time. The Fuse, and all it’s fusible products made this such an easy project. And it turned out so cute! A shaker card is always fun to receive, but add a gift card holder and it’s a surprise!
Happy Crafting!
