Add this cute mini Mother’s Day bunting banner to your mantel, your decor or to your mom’s breakfast tray and make her feel extra special this Mother’s Day. The free cut file makes this Mother’s Day banner so easy to make by using print and cut with Cricut Explore Air 2.
I will admit it. I love Mother’s Day. My husband and kids have spoiled me the last couple years on Mother’s Day and I have enjoyed every minute. Moms do so much for their families everyday so it’s nice to spoil them on their special day.
I don’t think you have to go overboard. Just a little effort or acknowledgement is all that is needed. That is what I love about this cute mini Mother’s Day bunting banner. It’s just a simple sweet statement to acknowledge someone special. And it was really easy to make using print and cut with Cricut Explore Air 2.
For this project you will need:
Free Mother’s Day banner cut file (free download)
Printer
Cardstock
twine
small hole punch
hot glue gun (optional)
skewers (optional)
The last two items are optional. You will need them if you want to use your banner like I did in this cake.
Print and Cut with Cricut
Once you have downloaded the free banner print and cut file, open Cricut Design Space and create a new project. On the left had side, choose upload image. Click on Browse and search for the Mother’s Day Banner you just downloaded. Once it opens, choose moderate or complex image then click continue. Choose the eraser tool and click on any white space to remove it from the image. Click continue and then save it as a print and cut file. It should now be in your uploaded images library. Click on the banner and then insert image in the bottom right corner. It should open up the design area and now you can adjust the size using the arrow in the bottom right corner.
Make sure your print and cut image meets the guidelines, by keeping the width to no larger than 5 inches and the length no longer than 8 inches. Once you have it sized the way you want continue by clicking the Green Go button on the top. It will take you to the screen for printing and cutting. Load your cardstock into your printer and click the print button. Then add your cardstock print to your cutting mat. Load your mat into the Cricut Explore Air 2. On your computer, make sure it is now ready to cut, with the correct mat size and the correct cutting medium selected by turning the dial to cardstock, and then press the Go button on the Cricut machine. The machine will read the markings in the corners to know exactly where to cut the banner. Once it’s done, unload the mat and using the scrapper tool, remove the banner from the cutting mat.
Punch holes in the corners using a small hole punch. Thread some bakers twine through the pennants to hang the banner. I put some hot glue around the skewers and wrapper my bakers twine around the skewers. I added this to a store bought cake, but this banner would also be cute stuck in a big pile of pancakes or waffles if you are planning on making mom breakfast in bed. You can also just hang it from your mantel, across a mirror or into a bouquet of flowers.
I am loving my Cricut Explore Air 2. I have made some fun projects with it since I got it. My most favorite things to make with my Cricut are vinyl stencils and custom t-shirts. I could make those everyday. This is the first time I used the print and cut with Cricut, and as long as I remembered to keep my printing area to 5″ wide by 8″ long, it worked like a dream.
Happy Crafting!
