Summer Schedule: How to Keep Kids Busy: Free Printable Summer Schedule

Summer just kind of crept up on us this year.  Even though I knew the actual date of the last day of school, it still just seemed to come too fast.  I’m looking forward to having the kids home and to not have to run here and there with carpools, singing, dancing and sports activities.  My kids love to be home, but mostly to watch movies on the tv or ipad.  Well this summer I want to make sure and keep the kids minds and bodies active.  Don’t get me wrong, there will still be some tv and ipad watching, but I want to try and do something every day with the kids.  Even if it’s just for 30 minutes.

So I wanted to start a little summer schedule  series here to share some fun ideas to keep the kids busy this summer.  Part 1 is this free printable summer schedule.  I made this summer schedule to not only get my kids excited about the summer activities, but to help keep me on track too.

I tried to come up with some fun topics each day and set up a routine.  There are a couple of specific things that will be the same for us each week.  For example, on Mondays the kids will be moving their muscles.  I have already enrolled them in a fun summer camp at this local kids indoor gym.  We were able to take a free trial class last month and the kids loved it!

Great Play of AZ is located in Chandler and it teaches kids fine motor skills, sports skills, fitness and coordination.

There is fun imaginary play and obstacle courses.

They are really excited to go back and have some fun there this summer.

Another activity my kids love to do every summer is the summer movie fun at the local movie theaters.  It is a great way to get out of the house and cool off.  Check your local theaters and see if they are offering summer movies.  They usually only cost $1 – $2 per movie.

The rest of our week will be filled with other fun activities.  I will share some of the things we will be doing those days in parts 2, 3 & 4 of our summer schedule series.

see what we are doing for cool treat Tuesday, wet & wild Wednesday, and kid craft Thursday.

This printable is free to download in 2 different forms.  You can download the blank summer schedule (just fill in your activities each day) or the plain summer schedule (there are no little pictures next to the days).  I added some images that went along with what our activities were going to be.

If you want to change things up next week, put this in a frame, or a plastic sleeve and use a dry erase marker to plan your week.

Make sure and come back to check out the rest of our summer schedule series over the next week.

Happy Summer!

Liz

I was not compensated in any way in promotion of Great Play of AZ.  We just really like it!
