My love of all things Disney started when I was a kid and my parents would take our family to Disneyland during our summer vacations.  Now it probably wasn’t every summer, but it sure felt like we were there every summer because those memories have grown to be such fun ones.  Of course we also watched every Disney/Princess movie there was and my favorite of all has always been Snow White.

As I’ve been working on my home office the last several months, I knew I wanted to incorporate something Disney since I’m such a fan.  I love hand painted signs and decided I would make one that included my favorite Princess.  Plus you can’t help but whistle while you work when you think of Snow White right?!?!  So I created this design and had my friend cut it out of vinyl so I could create my stencil for my sign.

I’ve shared how to paint a reverse stencil sign with more step by step in my reversible porch sign tutorial if you need it broken down more, but here is a quick run down of how I used vinyl to created this whistle while you work painted Snow White sign.

I used a piece of 3/8 plywood about 16×20 inches.  I painted it white using a sample pot of white paint mixed with BBFrosch chalk paint powder.  I really love using chalk paint for painting signs.  It covers well and dries fast between coats so I can paint my signs faster.

I pulled out the letters and silhouette of Snow White to create my reverse vinyl stencil and placed it onto my board.  Then I used my charcoal chalk paint and, using very little paint on my brush, painted the letters and silhouette of Snow White.  I used very little paint on my brush because I didn’t want the paint to bleed under the edges of the vinyl, so I had to do a couple coats.  I wanted to add a touch of fun, so I decided to use a little bit of red paint for the bow.

I like to remove the vinyl before the paint is completely dry.  Sometimes I think when the paint is totally dry it can pull the paint off the board as you pull the vinyl off.  Once the paint was dry, I used a fine grit sand paper to rough it up a little bit.  I like the distressed look.

Then I had my husband pin nail a frame around the edges for me.  He used the same wood that he used to make that arrow on my shelf.  He just cut the wood in strips so the frame is about 1 1/2 inches wide.  It was the perfect addition to my cabinet shelf.  It was just what it needed and couldn’t have fit more perfectly

I just love this little piece of my office.  It’s so bright and fun!  I think it makes such a happy little niche to inspire me to create and get my work done.

I love how it turned out so much that I thought other Snow White fans would love to have this in their homes too.  Since I created the file for my sign anyway, I thought I’d share it so others could either create their own sign, or frame it and display it to share their love of Disney.
