Creating holiday home decor projects is one of my favorite craft projects to make.  Using the Cricut Explore Air 2 makes holiday home decor creating so easy.  Recently I shared how to get started in using and setting up the Cricut Explore Air 2 and how to upload all the Cricut cartridges that I had from years ago.

There are so many possibilities in creating with the Cricut Explore Air 2.  But it can be a little intimidating as to where to start.  One of my favorite materials to use in creating is vinyl.  So for one of my first projects I decided to use my favorite material and share with you how to make a vinyl stencil using Cricut Design Space.  And of course I had to make something perfect for the upcoming holiday.

There may seem like there are a lot of steps in this tutorial, but I hope you will find it easy to follow.  You can pause on the video if you need to see exactly what buttons to push in Cricut Design Space to create your vinyl stencil.  A few things to keep in mind, Make sure you select the correct mat size, cutting material and change the dial to match the cutting material you will be using.

Sometimes I get so excited to get crafting I forget to turn the dial to the correct cutting material.

If you didn’t feel like painting, you could just leave the vinyl on your finished project.  You just have to make sure you use the weeding tool to remove the correct area of vinyl you don’t want in your project.  The Cricut Explore Air 2 cuts vinyl so smooth and quick.  And I love that the transfer tape has lines on it to make sure your vinyl goes on the project straight.

Make sure your vinyl is nice and smooth on your project surface so that you will have nice crisp lines on your finished project.  This project took less than an hour to make since I usually keep a stash of vinyl to craft with.  I think waiting for the paint to dry took up 1/3 of that time. 🙂

Happy Crafting!
