Less than a week until the Spookiest Holiday! My kids are getting more excited each day. I have tried to incorporate a couple of Halloween themed activities the last couple of weeks to get them ready for friday. While daddy was working late one night, we decided to make these Halloween rice krispy treats. My kids got to decorate some while I took a little more time to create some fun halloween characters!
I like to add a little something special to store bought rice krispy treats to make them fun for the holidays. You can see the full tutorial on how to make candy dipped rice krispy treats from this post from February. Using white candy melts I added a colorful straw as the stick and then dipped the rice krispy into the white candy and laid them on a tray. You can keep them simple like the ones below and just add some fun sprinkles. I let my kids have at a couple of them with sprinkles, jimmies and candy eyes so they could create their own festive treats.
I used black candy melts and put the melted black candy into a piping bag with a small tip to create Frankensteins eyebrows and bolts. I used the same piping bag of black candy to create the spider and the witches hat, mouth and wart. The witches hat looks almost like a beret. They have witches in France right?!?! 🙂
I have to say that Frank here might just be my favorite! Although the spider is a close second.
I used a small cellophane bag to wrap up the halloween rice krispy treats so we could deliver them to our babysitter and our neighbors.
These would be super fun to make for teachers or even for a bake sale! They would also be a fun activity for a Halloween party.
They were a big hit with everyone we delivered them to. All ages love these sweet treats!
Happy Crafting!
