It’s a few days before Valentine’s Day and I don’t know if you are like me and feel like you are scrambling.  There are so many cute ideas for homemade Valentine cards and yummy treats it’s hard to decide which to make.  Well I decided to not make it easy for you and throw one more idea out there.  These candy dipped Valentine krispy treats are perfect for Valentine’s Day.  They are a hit with all ages, they taste good and the best part … they take less than 30 minutes to put together.
They come together so quickly because I used these store bought marshmallow treats.  Sometimes I don’t have very good luck when I make rice krispy treats.  So when I saw these at the store, already made, already cut and already red, I had to buy them!
Here is what you need to make these yummy Valentine Krispy Treats:
2 boxes store bought marshmallow treats
(1) 12 oz bag candy melts – white
16 straws or sticks
festive sprinkles
Here is how to make them:

1. Unwrap all the treats and push a straw into the bottom of the treat about an inch.
2. Melt about 1/2 cup candy melts in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl.  Follow the instructions on package for melting.
3. Roll your straw into the melted candy and insert into the hole at the bottom of your treat.
4. Lay them onto a parchment lined cookie sheet (I used my silpats and they worked fine) and let them set up for just a few minutes.
5. Melt the remainder of the candy melts.
6. Carefully (don’t hold it by the stick, hold the sides of the treat) dip the top of the treat into the melted candy and gently shake off any excess.
7. Lay on cookie sheet and cover decorate with sprinkles.
Let the candy set up before trying to remove them from the cookie sheets.  You can always put them in the fridge if you need them to set up faster.
I had some skinny cellophane bags that I slid the treats into and tied with bakers twine.
These are a perfect treat for school parties, neighbors and friends.  When tied in the cellophane bags, they are perfect for on the go.
We are excited for our upcoming Valentine’s Day and all the festivities.  I’m gearing up to make our traditional Valentine’s dinner and my son is going to be busy practicing his writing skills signing his name to all his preschool class valentines. (That may take awhile.)
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Liz
