I used the new Cricut Design Space to create this Patriotic Shirt. I love that I can see all my most recent projects right at the top when I open Design Space. Once you’ve downloaded the free cut file, click on New Project.
Once a new project opens, click on upload on the left hand sidebar.
Click on Upload Image.
You can either browse for the Fireworks Cut File or just drag and drop. That’s my favorite new feature!
Once the file is uploaded, click the continue green button on the lower right side.
Click on the I Love Fireworks file in your recently uploaded images library and then click insert image in the lower right corner.
Once it opens you can resize the image to fit your shirt. You should see 2 different cutting mat layers. If you want to resize them separately, select all and then click ungroup above the layers panel. Once you are done resizing, click make it in the upper right corner.
It will show the 2 cutting mat layers on the left side. Click on mirror image so that the mat will show the mirror image of the first cut.
Turn the dial of your Cricut Explore Air 2 to custom. Then click on change material and select iron-on glitter.
Place your glitter iron on vinyl with the color side down and then load your mat. Once the mat is loaded into the machine, click the blinking Cricut cut button on the machine and it will cut the first mat. Once that cut is done, unload the mat and put down your red glitter vinyl color side down, load it into the machine and cut the heart.
Once your vinyl is weeded, iron it onto your shirt. Once you’ve ironed the blue layer and removed the plastic cover, place the red layer down and then cover your design with a light towel before ironing the heart. The light cloth will help protect the blue layer.
