Holiday Time at Disney is such a fun time to visit the parks.  I’ve been so lucky to be able to visit Disneyland the last few years during the Holiday season. The Castle decorations are just so amazing! Plus the food is totally themed well and so much fun!

I’ve visited Disneyland during the holidays many times, but I finally get to visit Walt Disney World during the holidays. And I am so very excited! It is sure to be a fun, festive and delicious trip!

Making shirts for Disney trips is just a thing I love to do.  And I didn’t see any reason why this trip should be the exception.  So I made these I’m Here for the Treats shirts featuring some of my favorite Disney treats.

DIY Disney Holidays Shirt

To make a Disney Holidays Shirt you will need:

Cricut Maker (or other cutting machine)

Heat Transfer (or Iron on) vinyl

T-Shirts

Cricut Bright Pad (or light box)

Easy Press

Cricut vinyl weeding tool

Disney Holiday Treats Cut File (download at bottom of post)

If you prefer a video tutorial on this process, check out how to create a custom t-shirt and get the download for a super cute Disney castle HOME shirt.

Once you have downloaded the free Holiday Treats cut file, upload them to your Cricut cutting machine.  The files come in a zip folder, so you’ll have to unzip them before you can upload the svg to Cricut Design Space.  Once the file is uploaded and inserted onto your canvas, size the image to fit the size of your t-shirt.

I usually size the one for me, 9-10 inches wide.  Click make it and when you see the design on the canvas, make sure to click mirror image on the left hand side panel under the mat size selection.  Once the image is mirrored (because you always mirror the design if you are using heat transfer vinyl), click continue to connect to your cutting machine.  Select the material type and the place your iron on vinyl onto your cutting mat, with the shiny side down.  Load your mat into the machine and hit the go button.

How to use Iron On Vinyl

Once your design is cut, remove the iron on vinyl from the mat.  Glitter iron on is hard to see the cut lines, that is when the bright pad comes in handy.  It helps show the cut lines so you can weed the vinyl you do not need out of your design.  Keeping the design you want on the sticky plastic cover, weed the vinyl as shown below.  The image will still be mirrored.

Turn the image over so it now is the correct way and stick it down to your shirt.  I sometimes use a ruler to help center my design onto my shirt.  Keep the sticky plastic cover on the design while you iron it on.  It protects the vinyl and because it’s sticky, it helps keep it in place once you have it where you want.

Set the easy press temperature and timer according the chart for the product you are using, and use light pressure as you press down on the shirt.  Make sure you are on a stable surface that is heat resistant.  Usually a table with a folded towel will do the trick.

Once you have ironed on the vinyl, peel the plastic sheet off your design.  If you noticed a part of your vinyl isn’t sticking, place the plastic sheet back down over the shirt and press it again.  Then flip it over and press it again from the back.

For this project I decided to go with the Siser Sparkle iron on vinyl. It’s a glittery iron on, that is smooth. The glitter is inside the vinyl so it doesn’t feel scratchy. This vinyl is so cool! I love how the color changes on it depending what angle you see it.

You can see how shiny and smooth it is. And I love the subtly of this tomato red color.

As I mentioned above, DIY Disney shirts are my most favorite to make.  The Disney Squad Goals shirts is another classic that would be perfect for your next Park visit too.

I can not wait to wear this to the parks on my Disney holiday trips!

Happy Crafting!
