If you haven’t heard, the Disneyland Resort is having the most Incredible summer yet! With Pixar Fest in full-swing at both parks and Pixar Pier open in Disney California Adventure Park to enjoy, there is so much magic to experience. Because of this, I’ve teamed up with my friends at Get Away Today to give you the ultimate guide to Pixar Fest and Pixar Pier. If you’re planning on visiting The Happiest Place on Earth during summer break, keep reading to find out everything you need to know.
Pixar Fest
What is it? Pixar Fest is a celebration of friendship and love featuring all of your favorite Pixar Pals. From classic pairings like Buzz and Woody to unlikely friendships like Edna and Jack-Jack, you’ll be able to celebrate beloved Disney-Pixar movies like never before. Here, you can catch cherished parades making their return, plus, enjoy a brand-new nighttime spectacular. In addition to all of the fun, you can enjoy character meet and greets, themed treats and exclusive merchandise. Whether you’re a huge fan of Pixar or just enjoy the films, you’ll want to be sure to catch this seasonal celebration before it floats Up and away on September 3, 2018.
What’s Happening?
As mentioned before, Pixar Fest features new and returning entertainment that is sure to bring you Joy. The Pixar Play Parade made its second debut after leaving Disney California Adventure Park on August 20, 2017. However, this time you can catch this fan-favorite in Disneyland Park for Pixar Fest. Here, you’ll be able to dance and sing along with characters from Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters University, Cars and The Incredibles as they make their way down Main Street, U.S.A.. Plus, you’ll also be able to enjoy brand-new floats like Luxo Jr., Up and Inside Out. Since this parade marches its way down Main Street twice a day, you don’t have to worry about arriving super early to get a good viewing spot. Because of this, we’d recommend showing up about 15 minutes before the parade debuts.
In Disney California Adventure Park, the long-awaited return of Paint the Night is making its way down Buena Vista Street. If you’ve never seen this nighttime show, this is one you won’t want to miss. With millions of LED lights shining bright in the night sky, you’ll be mesmerized with each float that passes by. Characters like Sully, Lightening McQueen, Mac, Belle, Rapunzel and Mickey and his friends dance along to catchy music, making it fun for the entire family. Luckily, both the Pixar Play Parade and Paint the Night Parade will be staying indefinitely at the Disneyland Resort.
However, Pixar Fest’s new nighttime show is not to be missed. “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” is one of the most immersive firework shows we’ve ever seen premier at the Disneyland Resort. With pyrotechnics, nostalgic music, heart-warming projections and a few surprises sprinkled throughout the night, this is a must-see show for the entire family.
In addition to the show-stopping entertainment, guests can also enjoy seasonal meals and limited-time merchandise at Pixar Fest. With over 50 food items to enjoy, you might need a couple of extra days to try it all. Items like the Pork Chop TV Dinner, Alien Macarons, Lots-o-Straw-“Bear”-y Funnel Cake, Cocoa Churro, Cheeseburger Pizza and more, it’s hard to know where to start. Luckily no matter what you decide to eat, it’s sure to be absolutely scrumptious!
Pixar Pier
New Neighborhoods
Although Pixar Fest is leaving forever on September 3rd, guests can still enjoy the brand-new Pixar Pier all year long. Pixar Pier is separated into four different neighborhoods, each themed after a Disney-Pixar film. Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk, Pixar Promenade and Inside Out Headquarters will all have attractions and food kiosks for everyone to enjoy. Since each neighborhood is filled with bright colors and unique architecture, it’s the perfect place to get your adorable vacation photo.
Along the boardwalk, you’ll be able to enjoy Games of Pixar Pier. These pay-per-play games inspired by Pixar stories will give everyone the chance to win adorable prizes. Here, you’ll be able to test your luck at La Luna Star Catcher, Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, WALL-E Space Race and Bullseye Stallion Stampede. As an expert tip, we recommend heading over to La Luna Star Catcher, as it’s the only location that has a guaranteed prize!
Attractions
As mentioned, Pixar Pier is filled with re-imagined attractions that appeal to every family member. The Incredicoaster took over for California Screamin’ and trust us, it’s nothing short of super. On this attraction, you’ll need to help the Incredibles family capture Jack-Jack after he escapes from Edna Mode. With new surprises, projections and features around every turn, this ride should be at the top of your to-do list when visiting Pixar Pier.
California Screamin’ wasn’t the only attraction that received a makeover, as Mickey’s Fun Wheel has transformed into the Pixar-Pal-A-Round. Here, you’ll be able to look out over Disney California in one of the 24 gondolas that represent a famous Pixar duo. If you were a fan of Mickey’s Fun Wheel, be sure to check out the Pixar-Pal-A-Round.
However, the fun doesn’t stop here. In 2019, Pixar Pier will get two additional attractions. Both Jessie’s Critter Carousel and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will make their debut next year. Jessie’s Critter Carousel will take over King Triton’s Carousel, while Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will be a brand-new attraction. While we don’t know a lot of information about Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, we’re sure it will bring everyone Joy!
Dining
In addition to all of the fun, guests who visit Pixar Pier will be able to indulge in delicious eats while they’re there. New quick service locations like Poultry Palace and Angry Dogs offer more substantial meals, while Jack-Jack’s Cookie Num Nums, Señor Buzz Churros and Adorable Snowman Treats will satisfy your sweet tooth.
However if you’re looking for a sit-down restaurant, you’ll want to make reservations at the Lamplight Lounge. The Lamplight Lounge replaced both the Cover Bar and Ariel’s Grotto, however, it’s quickly becoming a crowd favorite. With a gastro-pub inspired menu, unique décor and incredible views, you won’t want to miss your opportunity to eat here. As a tip, we’d recommend making dining reservations as soon as you can because of it’s growing popularity.
As you can see, everything Pixar at the Disneyland Resort this summer will take you to “Infinity and Beyond!” Plus if you want to catch Pixar Fest, it’s not too late to book. Get Away Today still has discount Disneyland tickets and hotel specials that will help get you there.
