Today is my son’s preschool orientation. His first official day will be tomorrow and he is so excited to start his new preschool! I’m excited for him to start too. 😉 I’ve felt bad that he has been stuck at home all summer with me since I really couldn’t do much the first couple weeks after the baby was born. So both he and I are ready for him to have some learning fun outside of the home!
Since he is starting with a new school and a new teacher, I wanted to send a little something to let her know how excited he is.
This is such a simple and easy gift to put together. I used microwave popcorn and melting candies (which you can find at any craft store), mixed them together and bagged them up.
I thought the shape of the tied up bag looked a little like an apple! Maybe? 🙂
So I wanted to do both a green apple version as well as a red apple version.
Once I put the popcorn in the bags, I tied them with some green bakers twine (you know, for the leaves) and attached my tags.
I’m sure any teacher will be bursting with excitement to open up this bag and give it a try!
Here are the instructions on how to make this:
1 1/2 bags of popped microwave popcorn
1 bag of colored candy melts
Add popped popcorn to a large bowl. In a microwaveable dish, add entire bag of candy melts and heat for 1 minute. Remove and stir candy. If there are still some lumps (which there probably will be), put back in microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Continue this until candy melts are smooth. Pour over popcorn and gently stir until coated. Spread out onto a parchment paper and let set up. Break into pieces and put in bags or jars and attach your free tags!
This popcorn really is addicting!
And if you want even more super simple,
buy a bag of starbursts or even a small package,
attach the free tag and
DONE!
