If you follow me on instagram you probably saw all the fun pictures I shared a few weeks ago regarding this super fun book. My friend Vanessa from See Vanessa Craft has published her first book, Party in a Jar! How exciting! I am so happy for her and this accomplishment. She opened up her home and invited me (and some other amazing blogging peeps) to come and see what her new book was all about.
First of all, check out that cover. You know there is bound to be some fun stuff inside with all those bright, beautiful pictures. If you have been around Liz on Call for a while you know that I love kid crafts. As soon as I heard kid friendly crafts, I was in! Party in a Jar features 16 kid-friendly craft projects that can be used as entertainment at your party and also as a take home party favor.
As I mentioned above, Vanessa is the owner of the fun crafty blog See Vanessa Craft. Vanessa and I got to know each other through blogging a few years ago, and even though we live in the Phoenix area, we don’t see each other very often. Vanessa loves to share her love of glitter and hot glue through blogging and is passionate about upcycling through crafting. Her and her husband have 2 beautiful children. She has a master’s degree in clinical social work and has seen just how therapeutic creativity can be.
Do you think your kids would love to create with you? You can buy Party in Jar at Amazon or at Gibbs Smith.
Now don’t be thinking that these projects are too hard to recreate. Let me tell you, they are not. My kids and I got together and decided to make one of the projects in the book.
We created the dinosaur terrariums (full tutorial in the book), complete with edible rock candy.
My son was at first very concerned about getting his dinosaur dirty. But once he knew that we could wash it off, he wanted to not just put the dinosaur in the terrarium, he wanted to bury him in it!
My kids are 3 and 5 and were both able to create their own terrarium. We had a fun afternoon creating together, and bonus . . . they got to eat the results! Happy kiddos, happy mom!
One more thing:
Do you want a signed copy? You can email Vanessa at seevanessacraft@gmail.com with the subject line BOOKPLATE and she will send you a super cute mason jar bookplate to put inside your book! How fun! You will just have to provide a proof of purchase.
Thanks Vanessa for sharing your creativity with us. Now we can fill up our summer calendar with some fun kid projects!
Happy Creating!
Liz
