Do you have a busy household like me? With 3 kids and a hubby that works in construction, I feel like I can’t keep up with the dirt! Plus living in the desert, there is plenty of dust to go around. 🙂 My husband and I remodeled our house 7 years ago and have loved every second living in our home. One of my favorite features was the carpet. It was so soft, it felt like you were walking on pillows. We bought a “stain resistant” carpet since we went with a lighter color. But after years of construction dust, dirt and oil, spit up crawlers, and tipping toddlers, our carpet is NOT pillow soft anymore and doesn’t seem to be resisting too many stains. We’ve had it professionally cleaned a couple times, but more stains appear. I’ve tried using carpet cleaners that come in a spray bottle and get down on my hands and knees to clean the carpet. With little kids still in the home, it is just an ongoing battle that I keep fighting.
Over the weekend my family and I were able to attend the 7th Annual Day of the Cowboy here in Phoenix. While we were there I got to visit the Mohawk License to Spill van and Better TV crew to talk about their new Smartstrand Carpet. They have been touring the country, attending different events demonstrating the License to Spill Carpet Showdown.
The event was held at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. Look how beautiful it is! It was a perfect day to celebrate the cowboy. There were activities for the kids, a car show for the hubby, a gunfight with “real cowboys” and some cowboy grub.
I had my top mess makers with me. See those construction boots! And of course I have Mr. Mud Pie and little miss spills. Soon enough, we will have another spit up face crawling all over the place.
The kids had a great time spraying bottles of blue powerade, soy sauce and wine onto this sample of the Mohawk Smartstrand carpet. It’s very colorful
They had an even better time squirting the carpet with the water bottles and watching the water clean the carpet! I was amazed how everything came right off with water! The gang with Mohawk did say you could use a little bit of dish soap and water to get out any of the more oily stains.
Elise with Mohawk was so nice and friendly. She filled the kids up some ketchup bottles. And she was super knowledgeable about the new Smartstrand carpet. See that carpet behind them, yuck!
I don’t know about you, but if I was 5, I would think that squirting ketchup all over the carpet would be about the most fun anyone could have. After their ketchup bottles were empty, they got to spray more powerade and soy sauce onto the big carpet. Mr. C had a hard time keeping it on the carpet. He wanted to spray everything! 🙂
They let kids and adults cover this carpet for 2 hours with ketchup, mustard, powerade, wine, soy sauce, and BBQ ribs. It was even walked on. Then they brought out the carpet cleaner. With just water in their machine, the carpet looked great after a couple passes. The mustard proved the toughest to get out. The Mohawk staff used a little bleach and water on a dish rag and were able to scrub it out. Did you read that right? Yes. BLEACH! You can use bleach on any color of their Smartstrand carpet to get stains out! Amazing!
I even caught the Better TV Show crew filming at the event and talking about all the activities and sponsors they had at The 7th Annual Day of the Cowboy! Can you “spot” 🙂 the Mohawk license to spill van in the back there!
Mohawk flooring is the world’s largest flooring manufacturer. They teamed up with Dupont to develop Smartstrand Carpet. Unlike my “stain resistant” carpet where the fibers had stain and soil treatments applied topically to the fiber that will wear off due to foot traffic and normal wear and tear, Mohawk Smartstrand has permanent stain and soil resistance that will never wear off. For as long as you have the carpet, it will not look worn out and dirty from normal wear and tear because it has stain protection that is built into the fibers and will not wear off. And like I mentioned above, it is easy to clean. A dish rag, warm water and mild detergent (like dish soap) will remove stains from Smartstrand carpet. This carpet is rated #1 in consumer satisfaction.
They also have a Smartstrand Silk version that is oh so soft. I may have taken more than one of the Smartstrand Silk samples home. 😉
It was fun to see Heather from Brie Brie Blooms and Wendy from Choosing Love at the event. It was great to meet Tara with Collective Bias
A fun story that the Mohawk crew shared with us is that they put a Smartstrand carpet in a pen with a Rhino for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks they removed the carpet (yuck), and were able to clean it so it looked as good as new!
