We love making our own Valentine’s cards and classroom Valentines for the kids friends at school.  These bag toppers are super fun and cute for classroom Valentine’s.  They were easy to make and the kids were able to help, which they loved.  I used the print and cut feature of my Cricut Maker to make these Valentine’s Bag Toppers.  I’ve got a video on how to print and cut an SVG file if you’ve never used an SVG file as print and cut.

You don’t have to have a cutting machine to make these bag toppers.  You could create them in any design program you are comfortable with and once they are printed, cut them out with scissors or a paper cutter.  I used the Cricut print and cut feature and Cricut Design Space to create these Valentine’s bag toppers.

If you wanted to use the print and cut method you will need:

Cricut Maker or Cutting Machine

Cutting Mat

Spatula Tool

Scoring stylus or scoring wheel

White Cardstock

Ziploc Snack Bags

Treats

Stapler

Lobster Cut Files and Elephant Cut Files

How to use and SVG for print and cut projects in Cricut Design Space.

Print the Valentine’s bag toppers out onto white cardstock and place on onto the cutting mat.  Load the mat into the machine and select card stock as the cutting material.

The scoring stylus or the scoring wheel (whichever you have) could be used to score the center line for folding the bag topper.  Just make sure in Design Space you have the correct scoring tool selected.  The Cricut Maker will read the registration marks, score the design and then begin cutting.

Unload the mat from the machine and use the spatula tool to remove the toppers from the mat.

Fill the bags with candy, place the folded bag toppers over the top and use a stapler to attach the Valentine’s bag toppers to the bags.

These animal couples are just so fun and look super cute as Valentine’s bag toppers.  I love that there are so many uses for SVG files.  You can get these cut files as part of the Fresh Cut SVG Love Notes Bundle or you can get each individual animal couple on their own in the shop.  Grab the elephants, lobsters or penguins files and create print and cut cards, invitations, bag toppers, t-shirts, mugs, totes and more.

Happy Crafting!

Liz
