Watercolor Cards

Last week I was busy cutting out a ton of name stencils for a craft project I was helping with for my church.  I ended up with a ton of letters once all my stencils were made and I thought that I should really use them for something.  I grabbed my kids watercolor paints that were sitting on the counter and decided to use my extra letters, and the watercolors together and made these fun watercolor cards.

They were so easy to make.  These can take 5 minutes or 30 minutes depending on how fancy of a watercolor design you want to do.  Now I am no artist and really haven’t used watercolors a lot, so don’t judge my artistic ability to harshly.  I am loving the pineapple trend and think it is so fun and cheerful.  Perfect for a just because card.  My letters were cut with my silhouette out of contact paper I got from the dollar store.  I just cut a piece of cardstock the size I wanted, attached my letters, painted my watercolor design and then peeled off the letters.  BOOM!  Done.

Of course you will need to give it a little time to dry and it may curl up on you a bit.  Once my cards were mostly dry, I set them under a book to help them flatten out.

I wanted to use more color and go with a geometric design for my get well card.  The hexagons did take me a little more time than the pineapple, but I loved how they turned out!

I think they are so bright and cheerful and will be perfect to deliver to friends and family who are in need of a little pick me up!  Maybe I’ll even take them a sweet treat to go along with these watercolor cards.

I think these would also be a fun activity for kids to do.  Grandparents would love a hand painted card from the kiddos!

Happy Painting!

Liz

Cute idea! I have been just letting my toddler scribble on cards to the grandparents. Watercolor would be way more fun and with a nicer result.
