School is getting close to starting up for the year. That means one last camping trip! Growing up we never really went camping. My mom wasn’t a big fan of camping and my dad’s family owned a cabin. So we would just go to the cabin for the weekends. Even though we weren’t sleeping under the stars or in a tent, we still liked to have a campfire in the pit out behind the cabin and sing songs, roast marshmallows and make, what I call, campfire churros!
Since I don’t really like marshmallows, I would prefer these campfire churros over s’mores anyday. The only things you need to make these are: refrigerated biscuits, butter and cinnamon and sugar.
Open up your can of biscuits and cut them in half.
Then you wrap them around your roasting sticks. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top of the stick.
Then you roast them over the coals of the fire until they are golden brown (the same as you would your marshmallow for s’mores). You still get to experience all the campfire smoke in your face you want as you make these tasty treats!
Melt your butter in a glass mug and dip your roasted biscuit into the melted butter to coat the entire thing.
Add some cinnamon and sugar mix into a brown paper bag, put your buttered biscuit into the bag and shake it up. The kids loved this part!!
Then you’re ready to enjoy!
You want to make sure and cook them long enough that they aren’t too doughy in the inside and not too long that they are burnt on the outside. But covered in butter, cinnamon and sugar, you really can’t go wrong!
Happy Cooking!
