The Howard Johnson hotel has been in business to Disneyland visitors since 1965. It’s no wonder they have great views of the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. The views from building 1 and 2 can’t be beat.
The location and feel of this hotel makes for a wonderful stay when visiting Disneyland. The pirate theme is really fun. And when you check in, don’t forget to grab a pirate hat and sword for the kids.
Howard Johnson Anaheim
Located on Harbor Blvd., just a block north of the entrance to Disneyland, this hotel is really in a great location. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk down harbor to the entrance to the Disneyland Resort.
Although the hotel doesn’t provide breakfast, you can grab breakfast as you walk to the park. There is a Panera Bread and a McDonalds on your path. There is also a Mimi’s cafe next to the HOJO if you wanted to grab dinner after your day at the park.
You can also visit the Main Street Market. The on site market located in building 1 tower on the first floor of the Howard Johnson Anaheim. They have souvenirs along with food and drinks you can purchase.
Some of the other highlights of the hotel are pool and water playground Castaway Cove. The Garden Pool is heated and great for swimming. Castaway Cove is a water playground that my kids love!
Castaway Cove has a kiddie pool, water slides a splash pad and more. There is even a hot tub there. Everything is heated so the kids can play even in the winter time. You do need to make reservations to use the pool and water playground.
HOJO Anaheim Hotel
Let’s talk rooms. I have stayed in a variety or room types at the HOJO Anaheim Hotel. Rooms for 2 or rooms for 4.
They have done some remodeling in the last couple years on about half of their rooms. Their rooms are spacious and bright. Whether the rooms are remodeled or not, you can find mostly double/double rooms or queen/queen rooms available when booking. They even have some fun pirate themed suits if you are looking for something bigger. Or rooms with a bunk bed.
Buildings 1 and 2 are the buildings that have been newly renovated and offer the queen/queen options. The rooms have a fun retro feeling and are bright and clean.
The bathrooms have great lighting and good storage . The bedrooms also have a lot of storage. They also have a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. You can even have Alexa set your morning alarm for you so you don’t miss rope drop.
If you are interested in booking a stay at the Howard Johnson Anaheim, you can call them directly, or book through my favorite Disney trip planning group Get Away Today. I buy all the Disney tickets through Get Away Today and they are a great partner with the HOJO as well.
If you want to see more details of the hotel, the rooms, the breakfast, pool and more, you can check out my Instagram story highlight videos. You can find them on my Disney Instagram account, Disney Food n Fun.
Let me know if you have any questions about the hotel. I’d be more than happy to answer them.
Happy Planning.
