With family suites and full kitchens, the Residence Inn Anaheim is a great choice for larger families who are traveling to Disneyland Park.
Technically considered to be in Garden Grove, the Residence Inn Anaheim area hotel is only 1.5 miles from the entrance to Disneyland. It is just on the border of Anaheim so you don’t feel like you’re too far from the magic.
We were lucky enough to get to stay here on a recent trip. The Residence Inn hosted our stay, but these opinions are my own.
Residence Inn Anaheim on Harbor Boulevard
The Residence Inn Garden Grove is an older property, but was updated a couple years ago. I felt the hotel main areas, as well as the rooms were clean. And the staff was really friendly and helpful. They getting back up and running like they were, and you can tell the staff is happy to be there and to help
The parking lot was kind of dark if you had to park a bit further in the back, but there was plenty of parking.
As mentioned above, if you are planning a trip with a larger group, this is a great option. It might be a bit farther than what you think is doable, but it was definitly doable for our group. We relied on the local bus system to get to the park and back. We had 3 day bus passes and it worked out really well.
How long does it take to get to Disneyland from Residence Inn?
Located on Harbor Blvd., just over a mile from the entrance to Disneyland, this hotel is really in a great location. It might not be ideal to walk down Harbor to the entrance to the Disneyland Resort, but it is part of the ART shuttle system. And is conveniently accessible to not just 1 ART bus route, but 2!
It never took us longer than 20 minutes to get from the hotel to the entrance to Disneyland. The buses run on a quick schedule, and using the AWAY WEGO app, you can see where the buses are located in real time, so you’re not waiting for long periods of time.
The Residence Inn has a stop right outside the hotel. It is bus route 3 if you are taking the ART. We used it mostly for coming home from the park.
Just next to the Residence Inn is a group of hotels that all share a bus top. It is on bus route 4 for the ART system. This one was really easy to catch in the mornings. It’s the first stop of the day, so we were always able to get a seat and get right to the park.
Rooms at the Residence Inn Anaheim
Let’s talk rooms. The Residence Inn Anaheim offers a variety of different room types. Rooms for 2 or rooms for 8!
They have done some remodeling in the last couple years on this property. Their rooms are clean and spacious. They have 4 different room options available.
They have a 1 King room with a sofa bed pull out. A 2 queen bedroom with a sofa bed pull out. They also have a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king and 2 twins. It also has a sofa bed pull out. We stayed in a family suite which is a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king room and 2 queen room along with the sofa bed pull out.
Every room at the Residence Inn Anaheim has a kitchen! That’s right a full kitchen. Which can help cut the cost of food because you are able to prepare a meal or two in your room.
Amenities at the Residence Inn Anaheim
When you enter the lobby you will see a market that has anything you may need during your trip. They had food items, including frozen items that you could cook in the oven in your room. You could also find any toiletry items you might have forgotten. And some souvenir items to help you have a magical day at the park.
They also have an on site bar in the lobby. It is open most days, except Monday and Tuesday. They offer specialty drinks as well as some snacks.
Down the hall, across from the elevators, they have laundry facilities. They have multiple machines that guests can use that take quarters. And guess what? You can find all your laundry soaps and needs in the Market there.
The Residence Inn also has a fitness center. I didn’t get a chance to check it out. But it is there if you want to get in a little workout during your stay.
One afternoon we came back for a mid day break and headed to the pool. The Residence Inn has a large swimming pool. As well as a hot tub and a shallow kid pool.
On the patio between the hotel and the pool, they have a beautiful area with chairs and tables to sit and enjoy the California sun. They also have BBQ grills in this area that guests are free to use. You could hop over to the Target that is across the street and pick up some hot dogs and chips and have a fun little BBQ out by the pool! I love that they have this available for their guests.
You can also find a ping pong table out on the patio. It’s right next to the basket ball court! The basketball court has a net around it. So there’s not a lot of chasing after the ball if you miss the hoop. That’s my kind of basketball court.
Does the Residence Inn offer free breakfast?
One of the best features of this hotel is their free hot breakfast! They have a great selection of breakfast items every morning.
They have classics like scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. But every morning they offered a specialty of the day, like biscuits and gravy.
You can also find a cereal bar, fresh fruit, bagels and english muffins and oatmeal. My kids were big fans of the waffles! Not only did they have syrup for the waffles, but strawberries and cream to put on top. That’s one of our favorites.
Needless to say, we never went hungry when we headed off to the parks every morning. We enjoyed such an amazing variety of breakfast foods during our stay.
We loved that all the info regarding breakfast was front and center when you entered the lobby. And the breakfast room was clean and bright. With lots of seating available.
