Halloween is going to be here before you know it.  Have you guys started planning your costume yet?  As you may recall, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday.  It wasn’t until a few years ago when I got into making holiday crafts that I realized just how fun it is to decorate for Halloween!  Today I’m sharing with you this super cute pom pom spider garland.  I shared this craft over at Eighteen 25 for the Spooktacular September series, but just in case you missed it, I’m sharing it here.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. I’ve been on a bit of a pom pom making craze lately.  They are just too much fun to make!  I don’t know if you’ve ever made a pom pom out of yarn before, but if not, here is a tutorial for you on how to make yarn pom poms.  For these pom poms I just used my fingers for a guide.  I first cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long and put it between my two fingers and push the ends back out of the way.  Then I start wrapping the yarn around my two fingers.  I just wrap and wrap until I think I have enough.  When I’m done wrapping, I cut the yarn and then pull the end of that 12 inch piece of yarn around and through my fingers so I can tie it together.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. I slowly slide the yarn off my fingers as I pull the yarn tie tight.  Once it’s off my fingers I pull as tight as I can and tie a knot in the yarn to keep it all together. Pom pom spider garland tutorial. Such a fun decoration for Halloween @lizoncall.com

To make it look like a pom pom, I put my scissors into the loops of the yarn ball and start cutting.  When all the loops are cut, it looks pretty shaggy.  I just gave it a trim until it finally resembled a pom pom.  This part can be a little time consuming.  Just keep at it until you like the shape.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. To make the garland I used a number 16 tapestry needle and some bakers twine.  I strung all the pom poms on the baker’s twine first.  There are certain ways that needle will go into the pom poms, so that’s why I did that first.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. I cut some chenille pipe cleaners into 3rds to make the legs of my spiders.  I just used some hot glue on the ends of each pipe cleaner and stuck them into the pom poms. Pom pom spider garland tutorial. Such a fun decoration for Halloween @lizoncall.com

I bent the ends of the pipe cleaners down on the legs to make it seem like the spiders are walking.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. Such a fun decoration for Halloween @lizoncall.com

All that was left to do was to hang it up!

I made it so the spiders could be walking on the wall or their legs could be hanging down.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. Such a fun decoration for Halloween @lizoncall.com

This is a fun garland for hanging over a door, on a mantel or just wherever! This pom pom spider garland fits just about any Halloween decor you have.  You can pair it with my Trick or Treat free printable like I did.Pom pom spider garland tutorial. I think I have an issue with spiders and Halloween.  What do you guys think?
