Back in March I was in charge of a church activity for our Relief Society of Sisters.
We celebrate the birthday of the organization every year at that time and we always try to have a theme. You can see last year’s theme here.
So this year we wanted to go with a Retro Theme!
We all did our hair in 50’s style and wore our red lipstick.
I didn’t end up getting a picture. 🙁
Our inspiration came from this invite. When we saw this, we knew we wanted to go with this theme for our Relief Society Birthday Party.

We wanted our decorations to be retro and so we went looking through our storage and asking friends and family what they might have that we could use.
We greeted the ladies with this cute retro vinyl chair and pedal car.
We used aprons tied together for a fun “banner”.
We used vintage table toppers I borrowed from my cousin and milk glass, recipe books, and old spice containers as our centerpieces.
We wanted our meal to feel like it came from the 50’s too.
What’s more classic than meatloaf and mashed potatoes!!
We wanted them to taste super yummy because when people think of meatloaf, they probably don’t think DELICIOUS!
We made these Garlic Mashed Potatoes.
The meatloaf I didn’t make, but you could make these Meatloaf Meatballs.
We also had peas and carrots, deviled eggs, stuffed celery, and jello mold.
The sisters who came, thought the food was super fun and remember when their grandmothers and mothers made dishes similar to these.
Of course it wouldn’t be a party without a little cake!
Everything turned out great and we enjoyed the time together visiting and laughing.
It sure was a fun theme to plan a party around. Who knows what we will come up with next year!
Happy Partying!

Super cute! We are doing a retro night for our Relief Society. How did you make your invite??
Thanks! I made it in a program on my computer called photoshop elements.
Liz, I love this idea for our Relief Society birthday party this year. And like Whitney I am wondering about your program and activities. Also, I would like to duplicate your invite. Where did you find it? Thanks!
Liz this is such a cute idea I’ll have to pin it and use it next year! I’m curious what kind of program you had or activities you did. You are so creative . . hope you are figuring out life with 3!
