When I think of the perfect treat for Valentine’s Day I always think of sugar cookies.  Those little hearts can be decorated so cute and so fun.  When you put them on a stick, they are even more fun!  I just love this Valentine’s Day Cookie Bouquet.  It is the perfect gift for anyone on your V-day list.
The very first Valentine’s Day present I ever gave my husband (he was my boyfriend at the time), was a heart shaped sugar cookie bouquet.  My sugar cookie skills have come a long way in 8 years.  I love sugar cookies, but until recently, I felt like I could never make a decent sugar cookie.
The last couple months I’ve been making sugar cookies with an amazing recipe that has turned out every time.  I used to use the store bought dough and had the hardest time getting them to turn out.  You can get the recipe and see the tutorial for the cookies and icing here.  After I rolled out the dough and cut out my hearts, I inserted a cake pop stick into the bottom of the heart.  I tried to make sure I put the stick as much in the center as possible.  Then I baked the cookies at 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
Decorating the cookies was so much fun!  I’m still perfecting my royal icing skills and especially my cookie writing skills, but I wanted to use a couple colors and some sprinkles to make the bouquet extra sweet.  I filled a cute little bucket with some candy and added my cookies so they would look like they had been “arranged”.
Cookies on a stick are the only way to go.  Those are the cookies my kids wanted to eat.  Can you tell they were excited to bite those cookies! 🙂  This picture cracks me up.  They were done with me taking pictures of the cookies, they just wanted to eat them already!
I created a very simple but sweet tag to attach to the bucket.  Perfect for gifting.  I reminded my hubby about that first Valentine’s gift as I handed him a cookie on a stick.  Do you think he would mind if I gave him the same gift this year?  The kids would love it! 🙂
There are so many fun ways to package these cookies.  I took a couple of clear bags and slid the cookies on the sticks into the bag.  Tied them closed with some bakers twine and they are perfect for on the go.  I also have the perfect size white bags that fit one or two cookies.  Slide a couple cookies in the fry bags and tie with twine.
My cookie bouquet is part of a Valentine’s Day inspired Blog Hop.  Some other crafty, fabulous bloggers are sharing some Valentine inspiration today on their blogs too.  Look at all this talent!
