This project post is a part of a paid marketing campaign with SNAP. Although this post is sponsored, the project idea and opinions are 100% my own.
Here in AZ our weather has been crazy! Not super cold crazy like it has been in other parts of the US. It has been crazy in that we really haven’t had a winter. Our winter has been quite warm and really really beautiful. (Which probably means our summer is going to be even more hot than normal, yuck.) Since it has been so nice outside, I was ready to get the spring decorations out and put up. Spring colors are so bright and cheerful. They make me happy. As I went searching through my spring decorations, I found I was lacking. Especially something for my front door. I decided to use my burlap wreath and add something springy. This embroidered spring banner was super easy to put together, dresses up my burlap wreath, and all the bright colors are a nice welcome to our visitors.
I had some help in creating this project, in the form of some happy mail! I received a box full of product available from HSN. There was a paper bundle, washi tape, embroidery stencil kit and thread, brads, mini clothes pins, alphabet stickers, and a fun stamp. The Amy Tangerine Plus One paper craft collection will be available for purchase at HSN on March 24th, if you want to add some of these fun and bright products to your paper crafting collection.
Here is how I used these goodies to make my embroidered spring banner. I used plain white card stock that I had on hand and cut out some rectangles that were just a little bit bigger than the alphabet embroidery stencil letters (they were 2.5 x 3 inches). I laid the card stock down on the mat that came with the kit, and lined up the letter of the stencil on the paper where I wanted it. I used the little hole punch and punch around the stencil where I wanted to embroider.
Once I had all the holes punched for each letter, I threaded the needle with the embroidery thread and started to stitch each letter. I went up and down every other stitch first (so it looked like the first picture below). Once I got back to where I started, I went backwards, and filled in the rest of the stitches for the letter. I just simply tied off the thread on the back of the stitched letter. I did have to refer to the stencil a couple of times for each letter to make sure I was using the right holes to make the letter. Part of the fun with doing the embroidery was choosing which color thread to use for which letter. I mean, aren’t those colors super cheerful!?!? Once I had embroidered all my letters, I picked my paper for the back of the letters. I chose coordinating papers from the paper pack I received. The scrapbook paper was nice and thick. It was perfect to use for my banner. The Plus One collection was the top selling signature line released in winter of 2014. It is sold out in most stores and online. I guess people were just ready for winter to be over and loved these bright spring colors too!Once I added my letters to the fun patterned paper, I used the skinny washi tape and brads to do a little embellishing. I used some twine that I had, wrapped it across my burlap wreath and used the mini clothes pins to attach my banner to my wreath.
This wreath looks good on my entry table on a wreath hanger, or on my front door.
A bright spring banner is the perfect way to welcome guest and brighten your mood. Especially if you might be feeling a little blue if you’re suffering through some crazy winter weather.
Here are just a few of the (5 discounted) bundles that will be available starting at just under $20. Bundles include: a basic kit, an embroider kit, an embellishment kit, and a stamping kit. The sold out Plus One Project Life Mini Kit will also be available at a discounted rate. Who doesn’t love a discount? 🙂
Aren’t they fun! Are you ready to add to your paper craft stash? Remember they will be available on March 24th.
Happy Crafting!

Elizabeth, this turned out so cute. And I seriously wish I’d seen your instructions for embroidering the letters before I did mine.
