Thanks to Expressions Vinyl for the wonderful heat transfer vinyl.  All opinions are my own.

Happy monday!  I’ve had a busy week this last week spending time with the young women from church.  My husband and I were so lucky to attend our church’s girl camp.  We were able to escape the heat and have a great time.  But it didn’t stop me from crafting!  In fact we were doing a little crafting up at girls camp.  This project however, I did at home.  We’ve been in our new house exactly one year!  And I’m finally getting around to putting the living room together.  I finished up my gallery wall (a later post), and we got a gently used leather couch from my parents.  We had lots of throw pillows to go on the couch, but I wanted to do a pillow update using heat transfer vinyl.

We’ve had these red pillows for a long time.  Which I love the color, but over time, they aren’t looking so great anymore.  I do like that you can zip off the covers to wash them, which I have done several times.  Perfect for when you have kids.  You can see where some of the red leaked onto the white area and where there are some spots.  So I washed the pillow cover and decided the plain red side would be perfect to use for a pillow update.

I decided to use heat transfer vinyl from #ExpressionsVinyl to add lyrics to one of my favorite songs to the back of the pillow as a reminder to our family.  I used my cutting program to design the pillow and cut out the words.  I designed it so that I could fit as many words as possible to one page for my white vinyl.

When using heat transfer vinyl the most important thing to remember is to flip your image.  You need to do this in order for your design to be the correct way when it is all finished.

The next thing to do is to make sure your cut setting is set to the right thing.  You can see how I chose heat transfer smooth and it created the settings for me.  When loading the heat transfer vinyl into the cutting machine, make sure to put the shiny side of the vinyl down.

Once the vinyl is cut, remove the extra vinyl, leaving your design on the sticky (shiny side) of the vinyl.  I did the same thing to cut out the word spoken.

I cut out my words and placed them on the pillow cover where I wanted them to go.  The sticky back of the vinyl becomes the protective cover for when you iron the vinyl onto the pillow.  Using a hot iron with the steam turned off, use pressure to iron the vinyl onto the pillow.

And that is it!  It turned out great and it was really easy to do.  I love how simple #vinylprojects can be.
