Whether it’s a special occasion or just for fun, surprise your sweetheart with this sinful chocolate lava cake for 2 recipe.
Friends I have a confession to make. I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate. {GASP!} I know! It’s kind of crazy, and my girl friends give me a hard time about it, but if I had to choose between apple pie and any chocolate flavored dessert/treat, I would choose apple pie. I prefer fruity flavored things over chocolate flavored things any day. Don’t get me wrong, I do eat chocolate, but it’s not my first choice if something else is available.
That being said, my husband is a HUGE fan of chocolate. Especially anything that involves chocolate and peanut butter combined. Or even a mint chocolate chip and chocolate combination. For his birthday I usually make him a chocolate cake. I’ve made this mint chocolate chip ice cream cake and this chocolate peanut butter cake.
Knowing how much he loves chocolate, I thought it’d be fun to make him a special treat for Valentine’s Day. This chocolate molten lava cake for 2 recipe is so fun and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to make them.

- Bake for 15 - 17 minutes. It will look done around edges.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before flipping over.
- Top with powdered sugar, ice cream, chocolate sauce, etc. before serving.
Of course they are best served warm with a scoop of ice cream and some chocolate sauce. I’d probably go for caramel sauce next time, since I love caramel. But these lava cakes were rich and decadent and so, so good.
