Have you ever tried the frozen chocolate covered bananas from Disneyland? It was one of my favorite things to get when I was a kid visiting the parks. These frozen chocolate covered banana bites are a fun treat to make with the kids when you can’t make it to the parks.

Whenever a new movie is coming to theaters that I know my kids want to see, I try and do a fun project with them to get ready for the movie. We’ve done t-shirts, craft projects and even some fun recipes. With Incredibles 2 coming to theaters, it was time once again to bring the movie fun, and this time it was in the kitchen.
I thought it’d be fun to make a version of the frozen chocolate covered bananas that I loved as a kid at Disneyland. Making them bite sized and portable was going to be the perfect twist on this Disney Parks classic.
My daughter and I were able to see an early screening of Incredibles 2 and it made making these treats even more fun. Here is a quick review of the movie, with no spoilers. 🙂 It has been many years since the original Incredibles hit theaters. Some may think it’s been too many years to bring out a sequel 10+ years later. But this movie did not disappoint. It actually picks up right where the first movie left off. Like right where it left off.
As we know from the first movie, the Supers are in hiding. Trying to live their everyday lives as a normal family. Balancing their powers, work, school and home life. We are introduced to 2 new characters leading the Bring the Supers Back movement. They recruit Elasti-Girl to help this cause and while mom is away, we see how dad balances the everyday issues of parenting.
What I love about this movie is that it’s a super hero movie that the whole family can enjoy. It’s not too dark or scary. It’s family friendly, relatable to life in a family unit with teenagers, kids and babies. Of course all those things with a super power twist is what makes this one great movie, that doesn’t miss a beat. We can’t wait to take the rest of the family.
Frozen Chocolate Covered Banana Bites
If you want to make the Incredibles version of the frozen chocolate covered banana bites, first you need to print out the incredibles logo printable to make them out of candy melts. I covered the print with parchment paper and melted 4 oz each of orange and yellow candy melts in a piping bag so I could trace over the logo and let them set up before I got to work on dipping my bananas.
You can see a video of this process when I made these Batman vs. Superman Oreo pops.
Set them aside and then sliced 2 medium bananas into 1/2 inch or thicker slices. Insert some lollipop sticks into the center of the banana slices and put them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Put the bananas in the freezer for about an hour.
These next steps you’ll have to work quickly. The chocolate will harden faster since the bananas are frozen. Use the tray that comes with the melting chocolate and follow the instructions to melt it in the microwave. Dip the bananas into the melted chocolate and gently shake off any excess. Set the chocolate dipped banana back on the tray and use a butter knife to gently lift one of the edible Incredibles logos you set aside off the parchment paper and place it onto the still wet chocolate banana.
Once all your banana bites are chocolate dipped, place the cookie sheet back in the freezer for another 30 minutes before serving.
This little gal couldn’t wait to try one of these frozen chocolate covered banana bites.
Whether you make the fun Incredibles logo for these pops or not, these chocolate covered banana bites taste really good. A fun frozen treat for a hot summer day.
Make sure to add this fun treat to your summer fun list!
Happy Dipping!
