If you’ve been visiting Liz on Call for a while you will know that I love to include my kids in my posts.  I enjoy crafting with them and making yummy treats for them.  Sometimes they help in making yummy treats, when I’m not in a hurry (also known as, not having the patience).  So I was super excited to be invited to a night of cookie making with the kiddos at The Cookie Doughjo here in AZ.

The Cookie Doughjo offers cooking classes and is geared towards families, especially kids.  With each experience kids get to mix up their own batch of cookies, taking home a dozen in their personalized gable box.  The kids and I were excited for our first experience at the Cookie Doughjo.  We weren’t sure which flavor of cookies we would be mixing up.

They got their aprons on and their hands washed and were ready to start whipping up something delicious!  My son couldn’t wait to get his hands on that butter.  Do your kids like to just eat straight butter?  I have to hide it when I’m making toast!

They started mixing together the first few ingredients and mom only had to help a little, just to make sure it was all combined.  Especially the eggs.

This is my favorite picture.  I love how he has his arm wrapped around the bowl as he stirs.  Concentrating very hard to mix all the ingredients.

Big bro was show little sis the instructions.  He really can’t read, but I think he liked the red font better than the black font.  I loved that everyone was able to have the ingredient list and instructions right in front of them.  Some of the older kids read aloud the instructions for the younger kids there.

Ok, I think this was my son’s favorite part.  Being able to use the scoop to put the cookies onto the baking tray.  Little miss had a harder time getting her little hand to squeeze the scoop together so she could get her cookie onto the tray.  But they both did a great job making sure they got 12 cookies ready to bake.

Oh and the most fun for little miss, adding the m&ms to her cookies.  She was very precise in her placement of the m&ms.  But my son was very precise too, in that he made faces with his m&ms!  Haha! 🙂

While the cookies were baking, the kids got to each decorate their own box to take home their dozen cookies.  The stamps, stickers, and markers were a hit with the kids.

The best part about this experience for me, other than spending some fun time with my kids, was being able to walk out the door and leave the mess!  Quality time with my kids, and someone else cleans up after us?  That is my kind of family activity!
