We are in full summer mode over here.  We are staying up late and sleeping in and enjoying our lazy days.  Sometimes however, our lazy days can be just a little too lazy and we have too much screen time, huge messes and a lot of tattle telling.  This has become a huge problem for my youngest.  It is so hot here in Phoenix that playing outside is not even a thought.  And we don’t have a pool, so that makes outside play even less of an option.  I know my kids enjoy inviting friends over and when they are entertained by their friends, I can actually get things done around the house.  So why not take a #summercakebreak and celebrate summer and national ice cream month with a playdate.

Hosting a summer fun playdate doesn’t have to be hard, and you don’t even need a pool to keep cool!  If you know me, I like to keep most things as simple as possible.  So why wouldn’t I make hosting a playdate just as easy as everything else.  The best part about a playdate is a yummy treat.  And what better way to cool off than with an ice cream cake.  I love that I Love Ice Cream Cakes are readily available at my local Fry’s grocery store in the freezer or bakery section.  There are different options (original Carvel®, Jon Donaire® and OREO®), different sizes and you can decorate the tops if needed for a special occasion.

Plus they are ice cream!  Who doesn’t love ice cream on a warm summer day.  I know these kids will!

I added a summer fun printable banner to the top of the ice cream cake to go along with our summer fun playdate theme.  I thought I’d share the link to download our summer fun banner if you wanted to add it to your I Love Ice Cream Cakes cake.

I also included a lot of things on the table to keep the kids entertained at our playdate.

Full of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, those delicious chocolate crunchies and whipped frosting, I Love Ice Cream Cakes are such a fun addition to any summer celebration.  They’d also be fun to gift to neighbors or friends who are feeling the summer blues. There is always a reason to make someone smile with an ice cream cake.

This summer fun playdate would make a fun family activity too.  It doesn’t have to be with friends.  I know my kids would love it if mom and dad participated in a little summer fun!

Happy Partying!

Liz
