Well today proves my point once more.
Tasty tuesday is posted a little later than usual today, but at any rate, here it is.
Homemade Pizza Dough

I have NEVER in my life made any sort of bread.  I repeat NEVER.  So I thought I would be a little daring and try my hand at some Pizza Dough.  I found a recipe in an old family cookbook and thought I would give it a try.

As usual, I only had part of the recipe ingredients in my kitchen, but I think the most important, because it turned out great!  Here is the recipe that I used.

The pizza turned out so delicious!  Even the kids gobbled it up.  They ate it better than they eat any store bought pizza which is a total plus!

Of course we only needed one pizza for our little family.  So I wrapped the other half in saran wrap and put it in a ziploc to store in the freezer.  When we wanted to make another pizza, I just put took it out and let it thaw in the fridge.  About 45 minutes before I was going to make dinner, I took it out of the ziploc and set it on the counter.  It started rising!  I guess my house was just warm enough.  That pizza turned out just as good.

2 dinners for the price of one with this recipe.  If you double it, you get 4 dinners (well if you’re a little family like ours you do).

This has given me the confidence to give other bread recipes a try!
You’re family will thank you.
Happy Baking!

We love making homemade pizza. I thought I should be able to freeze the dough, but I could never figure out which step to do it after. Thanks for sharing.

I found your site from the i heart naptime linky party. My BFF gave me a similar recipe that I shared on my blog, but I never thought to use oregano in it and didn’t know I could freeze it. Thanks for the tips!

I must pin this because it looks seriously delicious! I have a similar recipe but I like the addition of some sweet … and I might even add in some spicy in the form of red pepper too …

    🙂

I want that pizza! It looks SO good! I love homemade pizza but have only tried it once because making dough {and bread} scares me! 😉 I hope you’ll share this at my Throwback Thursday party! Thanks so much for sharing. I hope to see you there! 🙂 http://www.hubbymademe.com/throwback-thursday-no-5/

Oh man…I LOVE pizza! I have a no-knead artisan bread recipe that is TO DIE FOR! It’s what I used when I first started making bread and it tastes IDENTICAL to the bread I used to eat in Italy. I’ll have to find the recipe for you and share it with you if you’re interested!
