Make your own bakery style black and white cookies at home.
Last month I picked up a copy of Good Housekeeping Magazine. It was a cookie swap edition and I had to have it because on the cover were these beautiful red and white cookies. Now some of you know that red is my absolute favorite color. So I bought the magazine so I could make some of those red and white cookies at home for my family.
December came and went and the red and white cookies were never made. So when my friends and I thought it would be fun to put together some fun recipes and crafts to go along with the new Kung Fu Panda 3 movie opening today, I thought it was time to make those cookies. Although they would be black and white cookies to match a panda.
I have seen black and white cookies in bakeries, but I will tell you this. I have never eaten a black and white cookie until I made these at home. I followed the recipe and they turned out so good! The ones I see in bakeries are always super big. So I made some big ones, but knowing these were for kids, I also made some smaller. I used a big ice cream scoop for the big ones and a regular cookie scoop for the little ones.
I don’t know if it’s because I used scoops, but my cookies were rounded on the tops. So the centers were thicker in the middle than around the edges. They were still soft and delicious, but next time I might flatten them out a bit before putting them in the oven. I actually frosted the flat bottom side of the cookies so it’s hard to see the rounded top in these pictures.

These black and white cookies look fantastic, we are big Kung Fu Panda fans in our house. The cookies look very striking and I bet they taste delicious. I’ve had problems with dombed cookies before. I saw a tip which was to use the base of a glass to evenly flatten them, I don’t know if that helps? Thank you for a great post. Sammie.
