Chocolate and pecan fans will love this chocolate chip pecan pie.
I was never a fan of pecan pie when I was younger. I thought it looked weird and was always afraid to try it. Well obviously I was mistaken! Because once I tasted a slice of pecan pie, I was hooked! It was so rich and delicious that I have to have a slice every Thanksgiving. Well this year I thought it would be fun to add a delicious twist to this classic pie. When my husband tried this chocolate chip pecan pie, he loved it!
I used a classic pecan pie recipe and added a layer of chocolate chips to the pie. I like to use pecan halves in my pecan pie. I just like the look of the pecan halves in the finished pie.
Once I layered the chocolate chips and pecans in the bottom of the unbaked pie crust shell, I poured in the pie mixture and the pecans rise to the top. I make sure each pecan is coated with the filling, so if they look dry, I just give them a little dunk and they rise back to the top. My number one tip for baking a pecan pie is to use a pie crust cover and keep it on the entire bake time. It totally saves the pie crust from being burnt and keeps it the perfect golden brown color.
