Spring Blooms in Polka Dot Pots

I am really in the spring mood these days!  I’m ready for all the bright fun colors that spring brings.  Like Imentioned before, it has felt like spring almost all winter long here, but I’m ready to start seeing spring.  You know what I mean?  These spring blooms in polka dot pots do just that!  They are a lovely spring site in our home.Spring Blooms 1

I am a monthly contributor over at My Crafty Spot and last month I created a lucky clover plant for my St. Patrick’s Day decor.  You can get the entire tutorial here, for the clover plant.  But these spring blooms are basically the same idea.  Just minus the clover plant!

Clover Plant 2

This project was simple to put together.  You don’t have to be a professional flower arranger to make this.  The first thing to do is paint your pot.  I just used regular acrylic paint in white and gave it about 2 coats.  Using a sponge brush (that is used for stenciling), I took my pink, yellow and green acrylic paint and made my polka dots.  They are very random, no pattern at all.  Then I took my styrofoam half circle and turned it upside down in and placed it in the pot.  I made sure this fit while I was at the craft store.  Then I took my wire cutters and trimmed off the pieces of the plant pics I picked up at the craft store.

Spring Blossoms

In addition to the clovers, I found these fun plants to use for my spring versions.

I used hot glue to glue my moss down all around the edge of the styrofoam.

For the round plant, I needed some flower picks to hold it into place.  Since I didn’t have any, and I didn’t buy any, I found a green paper clip and fashioned my own flower pick.

I placed the plant onto the pot where I wanted it and just pressed the homemade pick down into the center and into the foam to hold it down.

I decided to repurpose the lucky clover pot (luckily I didn’t use hot glue to glue in the plant).  So I pulled out all the clovers and using wire cutters, cut these pink and yellow flowers to the length I wanted and inserted them into the styrofoam.

I did the same with the fern looking plant.  Just use wire cutters to cut the plant apart, and since there is wire in them, they go right into the styrofoam and then you can bend them to look the way you want.  Don’t you just love these spring blooms?!?!

I found this industrial box and they fit perfect all lined up, in the center of my table.

I even like them on my entry way table with my embroidered spring wreath.

They will surely brighten up any room you choose to display them.

Happy Planting!

Hi Liz, These are lovely! I love anything polka dot anyway but I really like how these colours work together, very light, bright and spring like. You’ve made those fake plants look like so much more, I had to read carefully and peer at the photos to check they weren’t real!

Thanks Julie! I love that they don’t look too fake as well. And of course, I love polka dots! They are perfect for spring!
