Entertaining is one of my favorite things to do. My absolute favorite thing to make when entertaining is an easy party punch recipe. They are so simple but can add so much to a shower, party, brunch or just when company unexpectedly shows up.
Here in AZ we have a ton of citrus this time of year. I ended up with a bunch of ruby red grapefruit and thought it would make a great brunch punch for a baby shower I was helping my cousin put on. It turned out so great for the shower that I thought it would make a great brunch punch for Mother’s Day. It’s the perfect amount of tart and sweet.
I’ve heard that a paloma is a drink that has grapefruit in it, but this is a non-alcoholic version. Of course you could always add in some sparkling wine instead of ginger ale to make it more of a cocktail than a mocktail. We are all about the mocktails over here.
- 3 cups ruby red grapefruit juice
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice
- 1 cup simple syrup
- 1 liter ginger ale
- slices of grapefruit and lime for garnish
- Combine grapefruit juice, lime juice and simple syrup in a pitcher.
- Add ice to punch bowl.
- Pour juice mixture into punch bowl and then add ginger ale and fruit slices to punch.
- If serving into individual glasses, fill glass ½ full of ice, pour juice mixture over ice filling glass ½ full, then top with ginger ale.
The pink sugared rims were a fun touch and were really tasty with this grapefruit party punch. That would be a fun surprise for mom. Just pour some sugar onto a plate and spread it out evenly. Wet the rim of your glass with water and then press into plate of sugar. I used a combination of plain white sugar and some pink sugar crystals. Delicious and refreshing.
