Tasty Tuesday – Goldfish Bowl Cake Pops

Today I wanted to share with you how I made these adorable Goldfish Cake Pops for Mr. C’s Goldfish Birthday Party.
The inspiration for this cake pop came from here.
For Christmas my friend gave me a cake pop maker.  It only took me 9 months to put it to use.  I had never made cake pops before attempting these, but this cake pop maker made this task really easy.

Once I baked all my cake pops, I let them cool on a cookie sheet.
Once they were cooled, I melted just a few of my blue candy melts in a bowl.  I put them in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until they were melted.  Then I dipped the end of my sticks into my melted candy and then into my cake pops.
I let the candy set up a little before I started dipping the cake pops.
As I started melting the rest of my blue candy melts, it was not looking thin enough.  So I added a little cooking oil.  I just put in a teaspoon of vegetable oil in with my melting candy and stirred it all together.   I kept microwaving the candy and adding a little oil at a time until I got the consistency that was easy to work with.
I then rolled all the cake pops in the candy and set onto my cookie sheet.  While it was still a little wet, I sprinkled some crushed graham crackers onto them.  Then I added a goldfish cracker and a couple of white candy pearls as bubbles.
Because I set them on the cookie sheet and allowed them to set up, the bottom (which becomes the top) ended up flat, which is exactly what I was wanting for the top of my goldfish bowl!
I stored them in an air tight container and then stuck them in a piece of styrofoam to serve them at the party.
Little miss sure enjoyed those cake pops!  And I’ll admit, I indulged in more than my fair share.  They turned out really yummy.
1 white cake mix
2 (12 oz) bags of blue candy melts
goldfish crackers
white candy pearls
I was able to make 30 cake pops
Although they were not perfect, it was NOT a huge failure.  SCORE!
Happy Baking!

As a huge fan of cake pops, this goldfish variety is adorable. I love how you made use of the flat bottom as the top. The crushed graham crackers is another great addition!

I wanted to invite you to share these cake pops at the Confetti Diaries link party this week. It’s great party inspiration! We hope to see you there!
