Caramel apples just SCREAM fall. Don’t they? I love a good caramel apple, and I’m still trying to perfect my caramel apple making skills. Someday… For now though, I will settle for this caramel apple popcorn!
If you’ve been following me, you know I love a good flavored popcorn. Well the caramel apple version came about when I came across these candy melts at Walmart. They are already caramel apple flavor! I found them among the other baking goodies in the Halloween aisles. I knew I had to make a caramel apple popcorn.
This popcorn is so, so easy to put together. It only takes 10 minutes. It’s the waiting for the candy to set back up that is the hard part. 😉 I have found that glass bowls are the best for melting candy melts in the microwave.
What you need to make up this delicious treat is:
2 bags of microwave popcorn (I use light butter and salt or natural)
1 (10 oz) bag caramel apple candy melts
1 bag caramel bits (found in the baking aisle)
The first thing you have to do is pop your popcorn. You need about 1 1/2 bags for a 10 oz bag of candy melts. Put your popped popcorn into your largest bowl. Remove the unpopped kernels (you don’t want to break a tooth later). Then microwave your candy melts in a glass bowl for one minute. Remove and stir. Cook for another 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Continue to do this until your candy melts are all melted. It will be smooth but still thick. Pour over your popcorn and gently mix together until all the popcorn is coated. Sprinkle in half a bag of caramel bits and mix them in. Pour coated popcorn onto a piece of parchment or wax paper and spread out to let the candy harden back up.
Once the candy has set up, break into pieces and package up to take to your friends and neighbors! This is a great treat or snack for a party too.
My kids love flavored popcorn too. If I don’t get it packaged up right away, we eat the whole batch!
Happy Cooking!

I will be honest. It hasn’t lasted more than 3 days at our house. We eat it pretty quickly. I know it still is good that 3rd day. I hope that helps.
